1999 3.1 acts like running out of gas

What can cause this? It does it only intermittently. It happens say once a week or so and it comes and goes. It seems like it does it after I've driven for about 45 minutes or so. It really acts like it is running out of gas, then all of a sudden the symptoms disappears and it drives fine again. Help please. :banghead:

Any check engine lites, last time fuel filter was changed?

One time I did get a P0300 trouble code. It also blinked twice. But, for the most part, it comes and goes without trouble codes. I'll try and change the filter. I think I may have about 12,000 miles on it. Anything else? Thanks.

po300 is a random misfire code which can cause similar symptoms, a wire, a plug, injector erratic, this can take some fooling with to correct if not consistent.

is your car a v6????
if it is , then the problem can be caused from your mass air flow meter. this will sometimes get damaged by dirt, or water, and will alter tour fuel, and sometimes shuts off, so, check it out, and blow it out with air, dont use any liquids or touch the little wires inside

your mass airflow meter is located right beside the filter box, it is on the intake pipe going to the throttlebody, it is black, with aluminum housings, and has a 3 wire conector.

Thanks. How much does one cost and is it a dealer item or can I get one from an auto parts store?

hey man, your first option is to blow the old one out, with a dry gun or somthing, but if not, then the dealer one is like 250 canadian. but u can go to an auto recycler and get anyone that fits any gm from 1997 to 2004 with a 3.1 or a 3.4 , they usually run for about 30-100 depending on who and what condition

Would a clogged PCV valve show the same symptoms?
