Relay for 1990 tailgate window...won't go up?

I have a 1990 1500 4x4 and was curious as to if there is a relay somewhere in between the dash switch and the tailgate that sends a signal to the window motor that can go about and if so, where it is. It [the window] always worked 'till a few days ago when it just wouldn't go up. Amp gauge has movement when pushing switch to lower window (position window is currently in). There is no movement on gauge, or movement of window when attempting to raise. I have had someone depress the switch in the rear jam while operationg the switch to no avail.

Thanks in advance

If there is a relay for that it would be on the fuse box under the dash or under the hood. But your motor just might be out in the back man.

I had the same problem with my 90 Suburban. I adjusted the striker pin on the right side to move it toward the rear so it would push the switch in far enough when the tailgate is closed. Good luck. Ihope this works for you.

My first posting on here; I didn't know where else on here to inquire about this problem. Similar to above~~3 years ago postings. My 1978 3/4 ton Suburban, that I've had since new, is giving me problem(s) at the tailgate power window. I've had problem(s) with it in years gone by ~~ not going up~down~or sticking~etc.~once the motor quit; replaced it. Always in the past, I hired it done; now I fix all my stuff myself. I've been on XS11.com forum for 6 years; username there is oldnortonrider.

The back window will power down, but not back up. It's not stuck. I'm thinking maybe a bad connector in tailgate or at the motor. I've removed the large cover panel that's held by many screws. I've known that it's been quite dry in there, and needed to be accessed and lubed~~oiled up. How do I get the glass up so I can get to work in there?

Couldn't find much on a search. This thread was about it. ?Anybody out there, familiar with this problem?

I had this same problem and I traced it to a stuck switch with is part of the passenger side tailgate latch mechanism. The switch is designed to not allow the window to roll up unless the tailgate is closed. The fix was easy, simply spray wd40 all over the latch mechanism. You can do this from the inside if you have the tailgate trim panels off and the window is up, or from the outside if the window is stuck in the down position. (The switch inside the door jam is only for the lights and does not have anything to do with the operation of the window).
I'm guessing this stuck switch is the primary cause for this common problem.

In my case the window started intermittently not going up, it would go down fine, but when commended to go up, nothing - no electrical draw as the lights did not dim. You could sometimes open and close the tailgate and it would work again. It didn't matter if you were trying to operate the window from the dash switch or the key in the tailgate. Since spraying the latch with WD40, it now operates perfectly again. Thank God - this was really a PITA when it wasn't working.
