Okay, as most of you know, I have been really down on luck with my car for the last 3 months...paid $2,300 for a new transmission, and 2 weeks ago my car started dying every time it came to idle...well this evening I finally got around to replace my MAfS and reconstructed my intake(Working at home depot has its benifits :icon16: ). I wasn't 100% sure that anything would change, but I figured it was worth it...so I contructed my new intake in my bedroom, took it and my toolbox down to the garage, unplugged the battery cable, took out the old intake and old MAfS, put the new intake in, tightened a couple of hose clamps, plugged in the new MAfS, and the moment of truth had come. I turned the ignition...hmm...seems to be running more smoothly right off the bat...so I let it idle...15 seconds passes...30 seconds....45 seconds...1 minute...and it's still idling steadily at about 700 rpms...okay so this is looking good...so I take her out for a drive...perfectly smooth acceleration, no lurching, sounds less ricey, no toxic exhaust fumes that I can smell...too good to be true...so I rolled down the window and drove around...sounds good...discovered when I let off the gas, it makes that "pop pop pop" mini backfire noise that some straight-piped 5.0 mustangs do...freakin SWEET!...then I glance down at the gauges....wait, SOMETHING IS MISSING...THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS OFF! For the first time in 3 years, those amber-lit words "service engine soon" were nowhere to be found...so needless to say I'm pretty stoked right now...I'm even gonna make some cliff notes for those of you who don't care that my car isn't running like crap anymore.

CLIFF NOTES: My car doesn't run like shit anymore! :iceslolan

Jeez from the thread title I thought you spent the night with some lingerie models getting laid.

No CEL is good but I'm just kind of...disappointed.

Yeah, I hope he didn't forget to use some gum wrappers and duct tape.

Nice job man, and you fixed it on your own from crap at Home Depot. You would make a Turbo Dodge guy proud.

^ It's true. You should see what some of those guys can do! Too bad Poly doesn't have the cunning witt like most of them. :)

Cause he's a Turbo Chrysler guy.

That's his biggest problem there.

Congrats. Attempts to do something new on your car that you've never tried before, and being successful with thereafter, is really exhillirating. Is this the air intake system, or the head of the car though??? I am somewhat confused.

He fabricated a cold air intake out of ABS pipe it sounds like.

Schweeet.

If you could do shit right, then your car would be running properly then now wouldn't it?

I'm so glad I'm leaving Utah. Cause the next time I see Poly, he'll probably take a lead pipe to my head. Peace out Poly...

Yep 3" ABS with a 3" to 2" malleable rubber drain coupling to adapt it to fit on the throttle body...it doesn't look as ghetto as it sounds, trust me :icon16:

You & Pics = Teh suck... :grinno:

If you have the pictures on your computer, can't you just right click and select edit. Most computers allow you to do that I think. Especially if have a program like "Word Paintshop" or something like that.

You could e-mail the pics to me and I could upload to my web server or resize them for you. Or you can use a free image hosting service like photobucket.com.
