"Shift" Light Problem?

I posted about this some time ago, well at least a year ago, and I didn't receive any replies about it then. I tried finding it using the search menu, but it's apparently lost under piles of other tranny problems, lol.
I have a 2001 Blazer, with a 5-speed transmission, it's a 4x4, and 2-door if that makes any difference.
It's more noticeable in third and fourth gears, and it's a intermittent problem. If I am driving normal, not gunning it or anything, and the shift light comes on in those gears it jerks like the engine tries to quit for a second. The most obvious thing to do would be to change gears, except for I live in a fairly mountanious region and it's not always possible to change going up some of these hills, or not practical to do when in a slow moving line of traffic. It's kind of a baffling problem to me, it's been a year and it hasn't gotten worse, or better. Only thing happens is when the shift light comes on it will lose power for a split second. It's not really a problem so much as it is an aggrevation.
