Is there a way to silence the darn seatbelt dinger in my '05 Ram? I have a really long driveway and it's a pain to hear it out to the bus stop and mailbox!!! I just don't want the FBI or the EPA or someone to get me for disabling it, or the whole truck to self destruct because of the safety violation!!!

Im sure there must be a fuse for it. Though it probably also will disable something else that you routinly use.

the seatbelt chime is controlled through the Body Control Module. The best way to fool it is to just move your seatbelt slightly so that the red light on your dash goes away and it won't make that annoying chime.

Or find the chime itself and disable it.

Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and buckle the drivers seat belt with the door closed.
Start the engine and wait for the seat belt warning light to turn off.
Within 60 seconds of starting the engine, unbuckle and rebuckle the drivers seat belt 3 times withen 10 seconds....ending with the seat belt buckled.
Turn off the engine.
A single chime will sound to signify that you have completed the programming.
Now all that will happen with your seatbelt unbuckled is your light will flash.
To reactivate........repeat the procedure.
This worked on my 05...............good luck!

Wear your seatbelt.

Any responsible driver will wear their seatbelt on the road. I think Bleed's suggestion encompasses that.

I think turning off the chime is very useful if you hook up to trailers often, or do lots of low speed maneuvering on your own property.

Dear dodge_4ever,

Here are a couple of suggestions, I have no idea if they will work.

You could hook the seatbelt up and just drive it while sitting on the rigged seatbelt. That worked for me some years ago on other vehicles.

Go to a junkyard and get the male end of a seat belt. Plug it in and see if it turns off the light.

Cover the light with a piece of electrical tape.

Impulsive78's description to turn off the sea belt chime is right out of the "owners manual" and works. There is "no way" to disable the light that I know of.
