Tail Light Wiring for trailertrs252 10-10-2005, 11:08 AM I am trying to hook up a (4) wire trailer wiring harness to my 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I have been told that there is a plug that will insert into the existing wiring that eliminates the need to cut the existing wiring. Does anybody know where this plug goes? JDPascal 10-10-2005, 02:41 PM I believe that the connector you are looking for is behind the trim panel in the left rear. You will need to remove the spare tire. JD JeepForever 10-17-2005, 12:42 PM On my '94 Jeep GC I accessed the converter by removing the back left tail light cover (from outside the car - didn't need to remove the spare tire after all). I didn't have a simple plug. Instead, the wires for the converter spliced onto the wires for the tail light. From the converter, a wire ran behind the bumper to the trailer light plug, mounted to the trailer hitch. Mine was installed after-market by someone else. I later had to replace the converter (about $25 online), although I don't know what wiring the after-market installers had to do to bring the right tail lights over to the left side. They might already exist, and can be defined by the colors of the wires. Let us know if you need a color-code translation. glass 10-17-2005, 08:28 PM just had my 94 wired for a hitch, got the harness for about $15.00 at kragen/autozone, was a simple wire hook up using snap crimps for the wires , as to the right turn signal, didnt need anything special , looks like the turnsignal harness splits , so just ran the green wire to the right side under the door trim , also, the PN was 74209..part name PA 6875868......the independent mech had previously ordered two other harneses, from the mfg of the hitch...both were wrong .....simple is better vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
