Hyde takes FTD & 1st place in SM2 @ NEPA SCCA Solo2JekylandHyde 10-09-2005, 05:09 PM Wow, this year just wont quit. I entered the Notheast PA SCCA's solo2 event today along with mshellhammer and Kupop from the board. This course was perfect for Hyde's set up which is something I have never been able to say about an autoxcourse. It was not overly tight and since the course is not flat, the undulations in the surface were perfect for rotating the car around. Changes since my last understeering mess of an autocross: *put rear struts one setting tighter *raised front tire pressure to 40 psi and lowered the rear to 36 psi *rear sway bar is completely disconnecting (tabs broken). We did 5 runs before lunch and 5 after. It was wet this morning which I think kept alot of people away. After the morning session I was 4th overall and 2nd in my class with a 34.1. The other 3 drivers were at 33.7s. After lunch everything dried out and I got very agressive with the throttle which resulted in me eating cones and taking out the finishline timing equipment :( Luckily I wasntt the only ... the very next run Kupop came through the finish spinning around and took out the cones at timing as well :D Anyway, I manged to control the power I was putting down and directed in the correct direction and I hit a 33.4 which was FTD (fastest time of the day for anyone)... An F-body that was killing me all day came across the run 2 cars later with a 33.2. This was the 3rd time he took FTD from me that day. So I went out and banged out a 32.7! ... no one else hit a 32 all day. I backed it up on the last run with a 32.9 so it was no fluke. This was the first autocross I have ever done that I felt great about my driving, the course and the car. Kupop took 3rd in SM2 with a 34.1 (IIRC). mshellhammer won CSP in his '87 MR2. What an awesome day and year. 8 wins in 13 races. (5 hill climbs, 2 autocrosses & 1 drag race) Thank you 2005 Hyde Sponsors! What year? Anything done to it? Nice job Jeff... JekylandHyde 10-09-2005, 06:41 PM Thanks guys ... no idea what year the F-body is, but that guy can drive. He said he was putting down 390 rwhp ... I assume that is not exactly stock :D clawhammer 10-09-2005, 08:25 PM Cool. Today was my first time auto-crossing, but I won't hijack your thread, I'll make my own. Hyde is winning a lot of races this year. Are you doing anything else this year? Did you change ignition yet? JekylandHyde 10-09-2005, 09:14 PM Congrats on your first event (going to look for your thread now). The ignition is not in, but it is ordered. I am doing another autocross in 2 weeks and I will be hitting the drag strip once more this year. I was planning on doing a 1-mile land speed record run at the end of October, but it is not worth trailing 9+ hours with a bad sounding, overheating, smoking engine :( CivicSiRacer 10-10-2005, 11:40 PM 32 second course? :p I ran down at DC on their lot and times were in the mid to upper 60s :) Right Click and Save As (52mb): http://www.mikelouietkd.com/2005_10_09DC.wmv Congrats though on the FTD :) vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
