I barely got this bonneville in and I've read a couple posts on here with people changing lots os parts with no results.

i've heard it could be rotors or even the trans shaft bearing that goes bad and lets the cv axle shake.

it seems to be a common thing with these cars so i think there would probably be a tsb for it by now anyone have access to the tsb's?

I am going to give the car a thorough check in the next couple weeks but I would to have an idea of what could be wrong with it.

The shake is mostly felt at about 50-75 its an odd shake and I also feel a little play in the steering wheel.

If the rack and pinion was damaged or loose could it cause vibration?

do wheel bearings cause vibration?

This vibration is pretty strong so I don't think it could be a cv axle.

I'll post back if i figure out whats wrong with it.

A lot of people dont understand vibrations or how to diagnose them.
So what happens is usually a lot of parts are changed with little or no results.
Vibrations are caused by out of balance, out of round, excessive lateral or radial run out, operational characteristics of componants or ground out conditions.
Since you feel the vibration coming in strongest at the wheel, a good guess would be something in the front end.
Could be tire and wheel assembly or any componant that spins at the same speed...including the axle shafts and CV joints.

All GM dealers have a tool called an EVA or EVA2 (Electronic Vibration Analyzer)
This tool was designed to detect vibrations and display the order, frequency and strength of a vibration.
Order is the number of shakes per revolution and this points to the cause ( certain order vibrations will only occur under certain conditions)
Trying to diagnose a vibration without using a tool to display the frequency of the vibration, will cause you to waste a lot of time changing parts will no results

I've had shaking in my steering on a 94 bonneville, the problem was that the bolts in the base of the steering column had been stripped and vibrated out. I had heli coils inserted and installed new bolts and voila, the vibrations stopped. You should check on that, pull down the panel under the dash, and look at the bolts just above the brake pedal along the column.
