dosnet matter lights on or off i hear a clicking under the dash and my dome lights come on and go off at will. I have tempoarily engaged the dome over ride button and this has stopped the random flickering. any ideas whats clicking under the dash? Thats my first guess as to the origin of the problem :banghead:

My suburban does the exact same thing. I haven't figured out the flickering yet, but for some reason , if I reset the trip odometer by pushing in that little button that resets it (sorry, don't know the terminology) then the clicking stops. Try that and let me know if it works.

I had same problem, turned out to be switch on tail glass not fully pressing light switch in, the vibration was causing lights to flicker. The relay I think is located under dash which I'm guessing would be the clicking noise. Hope this helps

I have the drop down tailgate but could be loose connection on the door switches.

I would say you are all correct in the diagnosis of the flickering lights. If one of the door switches is malfunctioning or in some way damaged, the relay will get energized allowing the interior lights to come on.Whether you have a tailgate or barn doors, there is a switch that will be actuated.

My wife's 99 started this crap the other day. Same symptoms but with the added feature of momentarily turning on interior lights with the press of any door lock switch. I'll tear into it this weekend but any insightful ideas are appreciated.

Replace both front door pin switches, that will solve your problems

Our 99 Burb has been doing this for years, originally the dome light would flicker briefly whenever we hit a big pothole, now it's on all the time and we've had to resort to the dome over ride button. I always wondered what that button was for. Is the door pin switch changeout easy?

I finally got tired of not having lights on when I opened the door, I went to the dealer and got the front driver and Pass door pin switches. They are not easy to get out, you end up kind of breaking them to get em out, but the new ones go in easy
