Fan Control Dosen't work

I have a 2000 malibu and the fan control knob will not work in the first three setting's? It will work on 4 & 5, but thy's like full blast?
Has anyone replaced this switch before on their own and if so, how hard is the job?

is something about another problem in that area. It will tell you how to pull apart the assembly and get a look in there.
