I have a 92 camry V6 LE that turned a rod bearing a couple of years ago. After letting set for a while I finally bought a used engine from Makomotors earlier this year. Put it in and everything fine ...cars runs great. The only problem I have is that the tachometer reads about 1/3 of what it should. Idles at 200, highway cruises at 900-1000. :screwy: No wiring modifications done, simply reconnected all cables & harnesses. Used an oscilloscpoe to check tach signal at ignitor and it seems to be there (not sure what correct signal is though). Pulled instrument cluster and checked tach module for signs of problems but nothing found awry.

Any thoughts, comments?
Thanks

Connect a tach to IG- in the Diagnostic port. If it also reads low it's most likely some newer part is giving an incorrect signal compaired to an old one.

If it reads correct, the tach needs to be replaced.
