Ok I went to start my 94 cavalier but it wouldnt start. the radio and lights all work so its not the battery.I also noticed that the brakes were realy stiff.I opened the hood and tried starting it and herd a quiet whine comming from just infront of the dash.

I wouldn't necessary rule out the battery. Your brakes were stiff because they didn't have the vacuum from the engine. Your radio and lights may still work even if the battery doesn't have enough juice to turn the engine over or engage the starter.

the stiff brakes are normal, every car with power brakes does that when the engine is off, and almost every car made since like 1980 has power brakes, just cuz your radio and lights come on doesnt mean its not your battery, does your engine actually crank when you try to start it?????

then its not cranking, i have had a battery soo bad that it wouldnt crank, even while being jump started, it could still be your battery, it could also be your starter is bad, or a loose connection somewhere

if you're getting no clicking at all. try another battery in there. sometimes even jumper cables wont help. check the sides of the battery for bulging if so it's super furbarred. I'd go with connections though. clean the terminals, main chassis ground (inner fender or radiator support panel) and the ground at the starter itself. use some rough sandpaper. you said a whine from your dash? could that be coming from the starter on the forn to f the motor? if so the solenoid on the starteris garbage
