Hello I am asking if its possible to swap out throttle body with different ports to a different intake manifold. I've replaced a motor with a new lower miles one and the old difference I've found is the ports in the new motor throttle body are different so I used the throttle body off my old motor. The car starts fine except the rpm is 2500 to 3000. I've cleand the tps and aic and throttle body. I have not yet changed the ecs. But I will. My main question is can a person swap out throttle bodies as long as they bolt to the manifold? I've kept and used all electronic controls including the egr from the original engin.

maybe, i'm not sure, try and find out. also check for any vacuum leaks after the throttle body. also try the proper TPS and IAC with the throttle body. check the IAC o-ring for damage.

I don't know the year of the donor. Trusted the saturn guys to provide the correct one. The aic, tps, map sensor are the match w/original car I put them on the manifold that came with the newer engine. I did clean and check the o ring in the aic and cleaned the throttle body pretty good. I understand there are three ports ont he throttle body that use two vaccum lines. one line uses two portsto the canister purge selonid and the other to the fuel regulator is this correct. I did check to see that they were good and connected properly. Any further help would be really great. Thank you.

Update!!!!! I just kept at it cleaning and recleaning the throttle body and iac only to find out the iac was frozen. I must have cleaned it four times and finally discovered the pindle would not move. I took the old one off the newer motor and tried it. What a difference. First of all the pindle moved pretty easily when I cleaned it. Any way a big relief. Now my engine idles properly. I am so happy about that. I did have a question about the item that plugs into the air intake (where the filter is). It is a solid plastic hollow thing that sits pretty much right in the middle when you open the hood. It is attached to the front of the car I believe. Any what it routes/plugs into the air intake. Some time back when I replaced the radiaitor and blower fan I was given the one for an automatic so this contraption does not fit. Because of the blower fan there is no room for it. What is it called and what does it do. Can I just plug the hole where it goes in to the air intake?

if you are talking about a 91-94 SOHC, there should be nothing there, 91-94 DOHC it is the inlet duct, for 95+ it is a resonatior. ether way, it should not be effected by the transmission.
