92 Lumina Z34 won't start has sparkSavageAddict 10-04-2005, 06:14 PM Hello, I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. This is a friends car she drove it over the other day and now it's won't start. It cranks just fine. I checked for spark and I do get a spark. I can hear the fuel pump run when I switch the ignition to run. I have read that it's possible that the crank position sensor may cause this. However I can't seem to locate it. Any ideas??? jeffcoslacker 10-04-2005, 09:02 PM If the crank sensor wasn't working, you'd have no spark. Offhand I'd guess she popped a timing belt. How many miles on it? jeffcoslacker 10-04-2005, 09:03 PM Pull a plug out and see if the compression seems weak. SavageAddict 10-04-2005, 09:47 PM It has 125,000 miles on it. I still think it might be fuel related... She just bought this car and was showing me everything. It stalled while I was sitting in the driver seat and would not restart. I have noticed that if it sits for a period of time and you try to crank it it sounds like it wants to start. I'm thinking that the injectors are leaking down after sitting. I didn't change the fuel filter, maybe it's clogged? jeffcoslacker 10-05-2005, 08:09 AM It'd be worth trying. See if Autozone can loan you a fuel pressure gauge, test the pressure at the rail. Try seeing if it fires on some ether, that'd prove/disprove your suspicion. commander5018 10-24-2005, 05:56 AM The car has the anti-theft chip under the dash at your right knee. While turning the key giggle the chip and I'll bet she will start. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
