My 98 ram 1500 runs fine at time but sometimes surges when held at a steady pace or idling, then almost dies like there is water in the gas or something. within a few minutes it usually clears up and runs fine again for a while. any ideas what this could be?

My truck did that for a while, and my fuel pump just died Friday. It could be a sign of a weak fuel pump.
