I was looking into buying a 85 buick park ave that the owner says needs a new fuel injector how much does something like that go for and how hard is it to do myself I am a pretty basic mechanic like brakes,belts hoses stuff like that any bigger probably couldn't do it they are asking 500 for the car is it worth it?

Anything that has a running engine and a good transmission is worth $500.00. I wonder how the owner decided it has a bad injector. Ask him to show you which one is bad so you can put a noid tester on it to verify that it is getting power from the PCM. If it is getting power, you should feel it pulse with the wire connected. If it does not pulse and you have power from the PCM, it would more than likely be the injector. Injectors range from 40-60 bucks depending on mfg and size (GPH). It could be something entirely different, (more or less serious). You can purchase a noid test kit at Auto Zone) or;
