01 cavalier weird burning smell

Couple of questions
Ok when I am done driving my car there is this strange burning smell, and there is a faint smoke seeming to drift off of the engine. I went to check the oil, and noticed my dipstick had detached itself from the top of the oil cap and I had to get some pliers to pull it out, has this ever happened to anyone before? I was wondering if maybe something had broken and fallen down into the oil compartment and was causing the smell. I also noticed that when I removed the dipstick, there was a little smoke coming from the oil compartment, I am not sure if this is normal right after you run a car. This has just happened within the last 2 weeks or so, I don't notice any oil leak, and my oil levels look perfectly fine. I have just general knowledge with cars so I am not to familiar with what this could be, any help is appreciated.

well the burning smell could be some old oil over the engine that burns with the engine heat
also the smoke in the oil compartment is normal because the engine temp
now do u change ur oil regularly?/ also check the brand of oil
not that is any problem with the one u use just make sure is a good quality
also the engine make any noise or temp is high?
just check it out to make sure all that is ok
but if just what u said then is normal
