How do I bleed the cooling system on my 1999 2.4. I want to replace some hoses but I can't find any bleed valve for the cooling system. I know the 3.1 has one but where is it on the 2.4??

The bleed valve is located on the LH Driver side of the rad. It is square and will fit a 1/4 extention. Personally, I never have good luck with these plastic valves so I always drain my rad by removing the lower hose.

I believe he is talking about the bleeder valve for the air not the drain valve. And sorry I don't know where it is in the 2.4 U should swap out for a 3.1 LOL then I can tell u where it is.

Looked through my Haynes manual and at my 2.4 98 Bu, I think the
bleeding is the return tube that connected to the coolant tank. The
Haynes manual is very unclear about this. I had my water pump
replaced by the dealer under warranty and the coolant was not
bleeded properly. The check engine lighted up after 1/2 miles from
the dealer. They said it is because the air trapped around the thermostat made it real hot and trigger the warning. They bleeded it
and was allright.

I found the bleed valve on my 99 3.1L. However, there are 2 hex bolts on it. One is larger and another is smaller. The small one is inside the bigger one. How can I open the bleed valve? Just take out the small bolt, or take out the big bolt? Or more tricky? Any help is appreciated.
