hey guys wassup i am now curently leaning towards getting the d series vtec wich is going for $450 i had a few questions about the swap i have the d15b7 wich is the non vtec 102 hp can i use the the vtec engine with my current ecu, also is there anyplace where i can get a dual over head for close to 600-700 i have no money right now and my car is 1 cylinder short we are still speculating if it is the exaust valve , but the price just to replace the valves would be the price for the new engine. two other people said that it could be my distributor but others have said that the distributor wouldnt cause the cylinder not to fire.
i am strongly considering the single vtec so will i be able to use my non vtec ecu?

It will run like ass and throw a code for vtec (because you won't have vtec). The only way you'll be able to pick up an dohc engine for that price is if it's just the block (not all the parts you'll need for the swap), or if it's an older ZC engine (not worth it). Why not just take it to a mechanic and have them figure out what's wrong?

Don't use all caps, when you use that on an internet forum it means you're yelling...and it's freaking annoying.

Tell your friend to do his job and try to figure out the problem before aimlessly changing the valves. I'm not sure about the NYC area, but you should check to see if there are any laws against swapping in an older engine into a newer car, in regards to the ZC engine. Here in CNY we don't but we also don't have emissions for cars older than '96, like the NYC area does. The Y8 would be a good choice though. No, the d-series tranny won't work with the b-series block, your friend doesn't know what he's talking about. D with D and B with B, no interchanging can be done with the heads, blocks, or transmission.
