Two Questions.EMRJPV 09-29-2005, 01:52 PM I have a 1998 1500 slt v8 5.9. I have 90000 on it. I was changing the air filter the other day and when I took the intake off the motor i noticed a piece of what looked like a seal(cardboard type) sticking out the edge of the ring that you tighten/loosen to replace the airfilter. Is there supposed to be a seal there or not? I am hearing a whistling noise when I give it gas. I was wondering if this is normal? I bought the vehicle a week ago and am very pleased with it just unfamiliar with noises they may make? EMRJPV 09-30-2005, 01:02 PM Anyone? sandman96 09-30-2005, 05:25 PM Yes there is supposed to be a gasket there. I thought it was a rubber gasket not cardboard though. EMRJPV 09-30-2005, 05:34 PM Well it seemed to be black rubber color just layered like cardboard and brittle. Simioh 10-03-2005, 02:47 AM the whistling noise is your new highflow filter. if you get the throttle body spacer, it will be even more noticible, add a high flowing intake and people will think u got a turbo haha imtheoneandonlyD 10-03-2005, 02:49 PM the whistling noise is your new highflow filter. if you get the throttle body spacer, it will be even more noticible, add a high flowing intake and people will think u got a turbo haha Yeah, and if you get the throttle body spacer you just wasted your money. TB spacers are useless in our trucks. There is supposed to be a gasket there. If there isnt it will create a whistle. EMRJPV 10-03-2005, 04:03 PM Where can I get A gasket for it? I tried autozone and other places is it only available at the dealers? imtheoneandonlyD 10-03-2005, 11:22 PM If you cant find it at any auto stores i would try calling the dealer up. Dont get one of the shitty cork gaskets, go with a rubber one. cliff1 10-04-2005, 07:26 PM I got a rubber gasket at ADVANCE AUTO PARTS imtheoneandonlyD 10-05-2005, 12:55 AM Im guessing it fixed the whistling noise? cliff1 10-06-2005, 05:23 PM I got a rubber gasket at ADVANCE AUTO PARTS SURE DID!! THX Cliff EMRJPV 10-07-2005, 11:39 AM Yes I got a gasket for it at autozone and it no longer whistles. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
