88 G20 Van Strange Electrical Problem, Require Help!

Hello, I own a 88 Chevy G20 Van. It suddenly shut off when pulling out of the driveway. Headlights, interior and brake/signal lights work. No accessories or ignition works (windows, start, radio). Checked all fuses, fusible links and replaced the ignition switch. The windows worked one time when I manually put the switch in accessory mode. Coming back a week later to continue work, nothing worked. When moving the steering column up and down and around, the buzzer comes on intermittently (door open buzzer) when key is in and in off position. Radio will intermittenly work when moving the steerling column when the ignition is in accessory mode. Windows worked once when moving the column and when ignition switch was in run mode. Now run mode and start do not work. Any help would be appreciated. By the way, this van came with a factory conversion Code Alarm System (I don't think that's the problem though because nothing lights up in the run position).

I am having the same problem with my van, which is actually a "Honey" Motorhome. I have replaced the battery and the battery terminals. I have tested and have power to the fuse panel. The lights will come on and the horn will blow. BUT, anything that works when you turn the key to on or auxilary does NOT work at all.

There is, what looks like a solenoic under the hood. It is mounted just above the firewall and sorta above the back of the fuse panel and close to the battery. It is silver in color. I would think that when you use a meter and test that you should get a reading from one or more of those 4 terminals on this solenoid by putting your positive test wire on them and the other end on the negative at the battery. However, there is NO reading this way. Then I tried the opposite way and I do get a reading if I put my red test wire on the positive side of the battery and use the negative (black) wire on each of the 4 terminals on this solenoid. I think this would mean it is shorted out, but I am not sure.

I NEED HELP QUICK, as I need to get this running immediately. Please help if you have any suggestions or solutions. Thanks in advance for all your help!!!

Well, I found the problem. It wasn't in the steering column...actually, under the hood. It was the distribution block just above the battery mounted to the firewall. A wire was completely fried off one of the terminals but was still barely intermittent w/ whatever fraying of stranded copper which provided just enough current to power the radio and nothing else. Could tell though because the entire connector was gooped with some type of caulking from the dealer/manufacturer. Pulled the terminal out, cleaned the caulk out, and crimped and soldered the wire back in. All is good now...can't beleive it was just that one wire. Thanks for the help guys!
