1996 Camry 4 cyl starterrum runner 09-29-2005, 11:57 AM Is it hard to remove? I have the click, click, start thing going on. Brian R. 09-29-2005, 01:19 PM No, it's very easy. The starter is on top of the engine on the driver's side. Download the 1994 Camry Manual from the post at the top of this forum. See pages ST5-ST20 for information on removal and disassembly of the starter. rum runner 09-29-2005, 03:23 PM Is there a worry leaving the battery disconnected too long? One source says the air bag system can die with no power. quincyguy 09-29-2005, 07:10 PM Highly unlikely you need a starter, but a "Kit" which costs about $12. Actually a set of contacts which are easily R&R'd. Your local Toyota guy "might" stock the kit, but you can get 'em online. There are some older posts in here showing how it's done :smokin: Brian R. 09-29-2005, 07:21 PM No, there is no problem with having the battery disconnected, other than loosing your DTCs stored in the ECM. Here's a couple of sources of contacts: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=166530&page=1 http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTricks/Starter.shtml vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
