This may be a stupid question... but I was trying to think of ways to get a more powerful mustang.. right now I only have a 2.3L and its not very fast lol. So my options would be to put a 5.0 in it or to upgrade the 2.3. That got me thinking. I know a guy with a mazda truck, when he buys parts most of the times he ends up with ford ranger parts. I was wondering is there any "ricer" engine I would be able to swap my engine for. I dont want to do a trans swap.... mostly just the engine. Is there any easy way to do it? Ive just started school to become an Autotech, so i dotn know everything yet.. Any advice would be appreciated.

the mazda used the ford engine, not the other way around. The only upgraded 4 cylinder you have out there is the 2.3L turbo used in the Mustang SVO and T-bird TurboCoupe. It is an easy and direct swap.

you could go with a turbo charged 3.8 litre v6, and do 10s like justin starkey does, check this out, http://media.putfile.com/Justin00v6stocktimerecord

he did this with a STOCK v6 mustang engine. and twin turbos. the engine he got out of a junkyard for 400 bucks, the turbos can be bought cheap too.

dude, get a turbo with displacement behind it, 3.8 v6 (99+) 400 bucks from e-bay, turbo kit 2500 bucks, and about a grand to hook it up to your car and you'll do 10s in the 1/4 mile.
