Malibu locking me out

I have a 2001 Malibu, when I purchased it I didn't get any keyless remote therefore didn't think about it having one. Several times after getting out of vehicle the horn blows, lights flash and car locks up.
Any ideas???

Either the guy who sold you vehicle is following you around with fob to mess with you ;)

or how about some aftermarket theft system installed in vehicle that is set up in passive mode.

I once also saw a GM service tech post he had a customer who complainted that doors locked on them for no reason and he found they had left a key fob underneath the floor mat and were occassionally stepping on it :)

If that were the case though, you would probably also be unlocking the doors, setting off the panic alarm and popping the trunk.

I do not have this on my Malibu, but my wife's 2001 Saturn used to do this, and I think they are the same, or at least a similar, system. They would lock when the car reached a certain speed, unlock when you put it in park and auto lock after certain periods of time.

This might not help, but it is easy and free. The passlock stuff is usually set with the lock/unlock switch on the driver's door. For the Saturn, you would turn the key to the accessory position and hold the unlock for three seconds. It would beep the horn telling you that all of the auto lock/unlock features were off.

Not sure if the 01 has this option that you are able to modify through the Radio of the vehicle. i know my current malibu and my old impala were able to set this option up as described above on the passive mode. you might want to look at that.
