91 trooper skippingegreen 09-26-2005, 02:48 AM trooper recently developed a skip in the engine. or a misfire if you will. really sluggish, pops on acceleration, idles rough. every so often 2 or 3 times a minute there is a spark or arc on the ignition coil from the boot of the coil wire to the body of the coil. replaced cap and rotor. i noticed a lot of corrosion on the negative battery cable, and cut away some of the wire jacket (about 4 inches )to see the extent of corrosion. pretty bad. solid white corrosion throughout the braided cable. could this be the problem? bad ground? BTW, trooper has 220,000 miles. its awesome off road, loves the desert terrain, capable 4wd, its a keeper. i want another one for christmas. :smokin: update: replaced neg cable. runs a little better, but still rough idle, skipping, and occasional pop/skip on acceleration. could it be the ignition coil pack? wires? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
