Hello everyone. Im an owner of a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu v6. I love the car but currentley im having a problem the coolant in the coolant box looks brown with lumps. on the cap there is some gooy stuff. i took it to my local EXXON dealler and they were in a hurry that day because we were evecutating houston. They told me that it wouldnt be a problem till i drive to SanAntonio but said that i had to show to dealer. I am getting worried all thought there is no overheating just one bar over the middle in the gauge. But i dont want to take the car to the dealler all quikly because they always rip me off so someone pllz help.

Homeboy - we have addressed this several times. The dexcool coolant does not last 5 years even though you are told it does. Please flush your system at least once every 2 years iof your are using this because it may fail and you will think you are protected. Flush immediately. The procedure calls for you to remove the plug from the radiator and from the block. If uyou do it often enough, yopu may not need to remove the plugs from the block. I run water through it 3-4 times and remove the radiator plug after each flush. Then refill with new coolant.

Warning.... you better be ready to pay out the $$$ for your Malibu repairs. They are notorius for brakes, anti-theft problems, brakes, etc. I have talked to several mechanics and they say they see lots of electrical problems. They did not get into specifics. I know of 1 lady at work that has a 2002 and her antitheft has left her stranded 4 times now. I am on my 3rd set of brake calipers, ignition switch replaced, fuel pump replaced, and now I don't know what is wrong with it.....

Just read the posts, you will see what I mean.

thanks for the advice but im quite happy with my malibu this is my 3rd year owning it and i take care of it like my baby. I got the brakes replaced but other than that my other worry about is how much i have to pay for gas. But i used to own a toyota camry man i will never buy one again that car killed me with all the problems.

So when did your resurrection take place? ("that car killed me with all the problems . . .") Life and death are in the power of the tongue. I wish you nothing but life and happiness. Happy Malibu-ing.
