ok im almost 16 and i really like eclipses ((cant spell them though)) and i wanted to know how they perform well or if they break down mechanical issues etc... id like a 92 or above so if anyone has something to add to this id really appreciate it greatly!!!!!

Well, it depends on which route you want to take. Do you want performane, or just a sexy ride with some power. If it's performace you want, go for a gst/gsx. If not performace, then rs/gs.

Well i was actually gonna re-do the interior and bondo all the cracks im prolly gonna put roll bars and lighten it up. I was gonna try to put a honda civic type r motor but i dont know if it will all fit you know?

Well, I will say it again.... What is the route you want to take? Performance, or just a nice car. If you don't want the eclipse motor, then don't get an eclipse. It's that simple lol. And this will just be a guess, but I'm guessing that you are not extremely rich, and have enough money to do a crazy honduh type r engine into the eclipse. That would be an extremely tough swap considering that the tranny won't match, and god knows if it would even fit.

just some information...it costs ALOT less to make an eclipse fast as fuck versus making a civic fast. and if you get the turbo eclipse, the 4g63 motor can handle 500+ hp stock. plust...everyone and their grandma has a honda.

Ya, it is fast to beat the local ricers. Eclipse turbo awd (gsx) are very easy to make fast. Dump like $2k into one and you are running like high/mid 13s, maybe lower if you are a good driver.

wow only 2k all the other place i went said it was at least 5 guess they dont know shit then. Yeah theres a club over in jackson minnesota i live like 30 min away and they think there all badass at 16 seconds

Are you serious ? 500+ hp on stock internals , wow that damn turbo engine is pretty strong. I though they could go at about 350hp max maybe a little more but 500hp :O.

Man I like honda's but eclipses are my weakness :). My dads hatchback has 235xxx miles on it and never ever had any problems. I wish my new eclipse could reach those miles without a rebuild. Its not a secret honda's have good engines. And as much as I love DSM I know that a honda would be far more reliable. But never the less I am getting a GSX :)

lol if you want to do this, DONT try to swap a HONDUH engine in an Eclipse, just b/c they might be good on a Civic doesnt mean they will be on our cars. Our cars are alot heavier than theirs. Plus the 4g63 turbo would SMOKE that engine stock for stock, also if you want to beat stock Mustangs, just get a stock GST or GSX lol
