well....its really not complicated....my "friends" shot my license plate with a potato gun...mangled my plate...and busted up the plastic the the plate attaches too. I'm not sure why the trunk says its open...its not and the taillight is fine. And it wouldn't be so bad if the trunk sensor picked to be either open or closed. But instead it will go on and off and on and off and on and off...and every time it does it that little chime goes off....kinda annoying. so how in the crap do i stop it?????

You can stop the dinging by removing the device that produces the sound. It is up under the dash, behind the glove box. Remove the necessary panels (hush panel, under glove box panel, glove box itself), you will find a fuse panel under there. It also contains the dinger. Locate and remove.

As far as fixing your problem, I would make sure the potato did not indent the paneling of the vehicle around the plate area. It could have caused a sensor to ground out that should not be. Make sure the dent is not protruding into the sensor or latch. Check this first, as it might save the removal of the dinger. It dings for more than one reason you know??

Peace,
Sparky
