Fuel regulator

Quick question...my '98 Burb is showing a P1153 code, hubby thinks it might be the fuel pressure regulator...has anyone changed one themselves and how hard it is to do? I have been smelling gas since the last time I filled the tank...thought maybe I overfilled the tank but the smell has not gone away. Today the check engine light came on so we took it to autozone and we ran the code reader which gave us the p1153 code. Thanks in advance....

I'm assuming you have the Vortec engine.

The fuel pressure regulator is vacuum controlled, and it is located on the fuel meter body. The throttle body and upper intake plenum will need to come off, then you can access the fuel distribution system. Pull all of the hoses (carefully) from the intake and you can work on the meter body on a bench. A new gasket set would be a good idea.

Yep..have the vortec engine. Thanks for the help...hubby is going to tackle it tonight when he gets home from work. It doesn't look too hard to do and he feels he can handle this one...
