I drive an '04 2500 4x4 quad cab. While NOT towing something on the freeway the ride is so rough I literally can't see out of my rear view mirror because of the vibration. My kids can't sleep and it's not exactly a comfort ride. I've had people tell me their trucks do this too.....I've had other similar trucks that didn't have this difficult of a problem, but this is my first heavy duty truck. Someone suggested using sandbags in the back and that didn't seem to work. Has anyone had a similar problem with this model... or with another truck? Can you suggest ways to fix it? Should I get the suspension changed?

BTW... when towing or at about 85mph this ride levels out.

Thanks for your help.

How much air pressure are you running in tires? with no load You can eaisily run 32 psi on fronts, I drop my rears to 25 around town with very little weight in rear and lots of weight with the diesel and the 4x4 it evens out perfect. I have seen people run 65 psi in theyre tires because they think that because that is what they are rated for that is what they should run in them. WRONG 65 psi is max. inflation under full load! this seems like your senerio the truck has and it is beating you to death. You can always put some big meats on it. They'll give a lot more floatation on and off road.

You could also put a load in the rear to soften it up a bit, although tire pressure will do it for you also.

I knew a guy that carried about 300 or 400 lbs of sandbags in the rear of his 3500 to smooth out the ride

Improperly balanced tires. Foreign objects in the rims. Steering alignment incorrect.

Response:
HEY Lauren have u had your tires balanced yet this sounds like a tire problem. I recommend that you have your tires balanced and check tire pres. and check to see if the bands in your tires have not shifted.
