Hello GrandAm GT Owners and Mechanics!

Our car:
2001 Grand Am GT V6 Automatic
New brakes
New rotors
New fuel pump
New fuse box
New Crank sensor

Ok, les cut to the chase --->
Our GM dealer has already replaced the Fuel Pump, it has great fuel pressure. They also replaced the fuse box, as it was corroded.
And finally they (the dealer) have replaced the Crank sensor.

They have also checked for spark, (it has good spark)
They have also checked the Pass Lock System and Security System
(checks out fine)

THE PROBLEM:
When the dealer gets the car running, we drive it home and then it doesnt want to start for us again. It will crank over and over and over.
After the 15th attempt to start, it will finally startup and run.
The Check Engine light and Trac Off light comes on too. But goes away after turning the car off.

So, back to the dealer it goes... And for the past 3 weeks they can't find anything wrong with it. Meanwhile my wife and I are stuck after work and in parking lots trying to get it to start.

We cant sell it like this so -- we gotta fix it.

ANYONE, PLEASE HELP US WITH ANY RECOMMENDATIONS!!!!

Have you tried replacing the computer?

First thing you have to do is leave the car with the dealer long enough to duplicate the concern...(the old addage..if it ain't broke, you can't fix it)
Intermittant concerns are difficult to duplicate (not much help for you) and you can throw parts at it all day long and maybe you will get lucky and fix it.
One thing that could help is to give the tech as much info as you can..when does it act up for you?
Sometimes a pattern can be established and duplicating the concern can be duplicated.

If I had to guess at a part, I might lean towards and ignition switch or a passlock sensor (seen a few on those vehicles)

Since the problem is intermittent and the dealer with all that fancy diagnostic equipment like a Tech II can't seem to find the problem find a mechanic with a handheld odb-ii scanner with generic and GM manufacturer specific capability that's willing to come out to the car when the SES/CEL light comes on and check for DTC error codes. Or invest in your own scanner. They are not that expensive.

You're problem still sounds like a crankshaft position sensor (CKPS) problem or possible a camshaft position sensor. And unless I'm in error there are two crankshaft position sensors on the GM 3.4L V6. One behind the crankshaft harmonic balancer and one at the rear side of the engine block. Maybe the dealer replaced the wrong one.

Next time this happens try holding the gas pedal to the floor and crank the engine over in this manner. This is clear flood mode. If it starts you are running rich. If so you need to investigate, possibly fuel regulator.
