i plan on buying a wrx for christmas and need some advice. i've read about the stage one upgrades most people do to pick up 50-100 hp. is there a downside to installing a 75 shot of nitrous instead of the exhaust/computer/downpipe/etc. that most kits come with? i like the transparency of nitrous. when i want to be quick, all i need to do is add some race fuel and make a couple of passes at the track. the solenoids can be removed if i have to go to the dealer for service. the reason i'm asking is i already have the nitrous kit from my other vehicle. what would the veterans do?

Did you watch fast and the furious?

Nitrous is for people that can't drive!

Tease the engine to more speed with upgrades, if you want to kill it add the 'naws'

Dude "bottles are for babies" :) . Beside if you need to bring the car to the dealer I believe they would be able to tell if you were runnin nitrous. Besides I believe I was once told that the Nitrous beats the hell out of a forced induction engine. I cant remember. I would get the upgrades. Check out this site this kit is said to give you 50HP to the wheels http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/1_5_8_1507_1509/products_id/5057

If I were you I'd stick to around a 50-60 shot, but a 75 shot on a stock engine should be safe as long as you don't beat on it too much.

^ you can make the same power as that kit for 1/3 of the price, and it's "instant" power, no waiting for spool up. Plus it's "off" when you don't need it, so it runs and drives just as smooth as a stock car, and it's only putting wear on your engine when you race instead of every time you drive like other upgrades do.

I'm a nitrous fan if you couldn't tell :p

Difference is Jason, you're running yours on a 2.5TS, not a WRX.
It makes sense on a TS or RS, on a WRX why do you want to go 'naws' though?

sorry guys. like i said, i'm new. the only reason i'm asking is that i have a perfectly fine, adjustable(35-150 shot), computer controlled kit already. it's paid for. many of the upgrades i see advertised go for what? $1,000-2,000. and they advertise 50-100 hp. i have no intention of needing all the boost all of the time. my other vehicle is a chev p.u. with 180,000 miles and probably over 100 nitrous passes over the years. and it still runs strong because i'm not button happy. all i want is a car that can run in the 13's once in awhile. no harm, no foul. thanks.

well a WRX w/ a 75 shot will defintely get you into 13's. I dont like nitrous though and would go w/ a staged package from Cobb, Vishnu, etc.
$2000 in upgrades on your WRX will be alot more reliable for your drivetrain but also more costly to get the power you want. If your only looking to run your car hard at the track then i guess the nitrous would be a good pick. This could be debated from either side however, and I think you should make the decision yourself.
