My friend thinks he can run 15.7 in a stock LSS2Corolla 05-09-2002, 09:42 PM My friend wants to bet me 20 dollars that he can beat me in an Integra LS, with me behind the wheel of a DOHC Vtec 1999 Civic Si, with equal or no mods on either cars. I am a pretty good driver, I've been racing stickshift for 2 1/2 years now, and he is equally good, if not worse of a driver. He is stubbornly hard headed about this, and he also claimes that integra LS' get 138 hp to the wheels stock. If I'm not mistaken don't they get like 122 hp to the wheels stock? Polygon 05-09-2002, 10:26 PM Yeah, an LS, 138 to the wheels, I don't know about that. Then again I am by no means a Honda expert. :p Self 05-09-2002, 10:41 PM Take the bet, smoke his ass, collect the cash:D KaosBoy 05-09-2002, 11:18 PM S2Carolla is not a better driver than me..... i can drive better than he can... in racing that is...... ok now i know for a fact i can beat him in a ls with a header ane exhuast if hedrives a civic si with the same mods..... i know for a fact..... S2Corolla 05-09-2002, 11:31 PM It's COrolla, not CArolla, learn how to spell. And if that's supposed to be a joke, spelling it like that, then I've got one more flag on my side that says you're going to lose. Oh yeah and Chris, if you look up www.car-stats.com my car is actually .1 of a second slower than yours at the 1/4, so if your driving is so much better than mine, then why is it that when you had an AEM cold air, DC top header, and cat back exhaust, I beat you by a car or a car and half 8 times out of 9? Can you explain that? If your driving skills are so great, then why is it that when you're supposed to be running 16.2 or 16 flat, you were losing to a car that runs 16.5??? I can't believe you got an account on AF just to argue with me here. Uhh, make sure you DON'T bet money on this. The LS is nearly a second slower than an SI... kidrocket 05-10-2002, 11:41 AM S2 if you come to st. louis, you can borrow my car to take this kids cash mellowboy 05-10-2002, 12:44 PM My friend ran 15.8 on his 95 integra ls auto at the track. All he had was intake and customed cat back. Thats only one time though. The rest he ran like 16.0-16.3. S2Corolla 05-10-2002, 01:05 PM Haha, actually, the only reason we haven't raced is because I can't find an Si here that doesn't have major mods to it. I mean I used to have a friend that has an Si with just a cold air and a header, but first, he blew his third gear synchro, and second, we're not friends anymore. (drama) So we haven't raced yet. I've debated getting a Civic Si as my next car since the guy with the Gizzer backed out, but... My dreams of having a 2 door coupe powered by an H22a still stand strong. Dang, St. Louis, lotta miles. kidrocket 05-10-2002, 02:19 PM youll be able to find a GSR easier than an Si actually, My friend ran 14.9 with just I/H/E and shortshifter in his 2000 Si. dont ask me how. i saw his timeslip. that car runs 12s now S2Corolla 05-10-2002, 02:33 PM It depends on where you live and where you look. In California, I found a 2000 Civic Si with 12,000 miles on it and a clean title for 11,900.00$ But with GSR's, I've only found like four with clean titles and they cost well over 16,000.00$. Don't even get me started with 5th gen Preludes, :sigh:. I figured, hybrid is the way to go. I can get a good condition 94+ Integra LS for about 5,000.00 and a shop I'm cool with quoted me 3200.00 for an H22A swap, with axels, ECU, wiring and everything. And they said it will take them only 5-6 days to do the full swap. I still debate getting an Si though, because I don't know if I can live for 5-6 days without a car, and Si's have a lot of aftermarket support... (Where are you going to find a Cold Air intake for a Prelude powered integra?) S2Corolla 05-10-2002, 02:42 PM 14.9's possible in an Si, but there's steps you have to go through. First off, you have to use the right stuff. Okay, an Injen Cold Air get's more hp to the wheels then an AEM, if everything's stock. But tests have proven that when you have a ceramic coated JDM header AND a cold air intake, the AEM one responds better to the set up than the injen. So an AEM gets about 5 hp to the wheels, stock, and Injen gets 6, but with the header, the AEM get's nearly 7 wheel hp, and the header gets more hp as well. It's all in set ups, so say you have an AEM cold air, a DC sports JDM type header and Greddy catback exhaust with a high flow cat, with minor weight reduction it's possible to break 14's, especially if the driver is good. With a shortshifter it's even more possible, because I've driven Si's, and you kidrocket have to know the stock Si shifter isn't too responsive to powershifting, but with a shortshifter, (a real one not an autozone one) like the B&M, you'll take 70% off of your shifting time, and if it normally takes you 1/4 of a second to shift gears, and you take 50% of your shifting time off, then you just knocked off 3/8 of a second off your 1/4 mile time, because there are 3 upshifts in a 1/4 mile run with an Si. An Si stock off the lot runs 15.7, broken in and taken care off with about 3000 miles on it, it can run 15.5 with good track weather. (everyone knows a car runs better when it's broken in and it is taken care of) And intake header exhaust is known to drop .3-.6 of a second off your quarter mile time. Hope that helps. Polygon 05-10-2002, 03:23 PM I have a friend that is selling a blue Civic Si. It has been lowered, custom tires and rims, and the only engine mod is a cold air intake. I am not sure who makes it. He was selling it for around $14,000 I think and was willing to deliver it. I'll see if he has sold it if you want. S2Corolla 05-10-2002, 03:35 PM I'm already in the process of getting a 95 Integra RS, 110k freeway miles, but brakes and stuff are in good condition, perfectly ready for an H22 swap!!! My friend in SD wants an Si though... So yeah check it out for me, please, thanks. Polygon 05-10-2002, 04:00 PM Alright I'll drop him a line today and let you know. THE4TH 05-10-2002, 07:07 PM ummmm... yeah  i have a 2k si and i used to have a 94ls... and the si is gonna win unless the si driver is sleepin or something...or the ac is on full blast.. and btw ... So we haven't raced yet. I've debated getting a Civic Si as my next car since the guy with the Gizzer backed out, but... My dreams of having a 2 door coupe powered by an H22a still stand strong. isn't the prelude a 2 door coupe  oh well happy hunting.. if he keeps buggin ya ask him if his ls will take an s2k , since he knows for a fact it'll kill an si ... S2Corolla 05-10-2002, 08:49 PM I just got 40$ richer... LOL  Following the wise words of Self, "Take the bet, smoke his ass, collect the cash" Haha, I'm gonna go see Spiderman again. S2Corolla 05-10-2002, 08:54 PM Originally posted by THE4TH isn't the prelude a 2 door coupe  Yeah but this was my plan. Drop an H22a in a 2 door coupe Civic and do an integra tail light conversion and swap in Type R suspension and brakes... That's why I said "2 door coupe powered by an h22". But I got a red flag when i thought about over steer because of the weight distribution in the car. Take the S2000 for instance, that car KILLS on the track because its weight distribution is almost 50/50 exactly, so it can go into turns at 70-75 mph without losing traction and skidding or drifting. I like autocrossing, but if I have an H22 in a 2 door coupe, I'm gonna fly through turns and die. So my new plan was to swap an H22 into an Integra shell, since the integra already has ABS and it weighs a little more, all I'll have to do is swap in the Type R suspension and get bigger brakes, and I won't need to do the taillight conversion. Maybe a JDM Honda Integra headlight conversion... But that's further down the line. THE4TH 05-10-2002, 09:53 PM right on man ... sounds like a plan... well let me see it when your done.. i'd love to see a tail light conversion... that would be great.. kidrocket 05-11-2002, 03:03 PM S2 whered u get the Si to race? S2Corolla 05-11-2002, 03:21 PM A new kid with a milano red 1999 Si showed up and I was the first one to race him. After I beat him in a "stock" corolla, he wanted me to teach him how to race. So I told him that I would teach him if he let me run his car against an Integra. He agreed. Now the thing is, when I raced him I didn't really notice anything wrong with his shifting or his take off, but... Remember, he thinks I'm "stock" so I just stayed ahead of him a car length and a half the whole way. So I raced the LS, and this LS had a factor on his side, first part, he had a JDM header, second part, his car was lowered with badass suspension upgrades. They flagged it, my friend did jump me in the Integra, but I caught up in first gear, pulled about a car length and a half in second, and in third, I mutilated him. I shifted into fourth, hit the 1/4 mark threw the hazards and slowed down. THE4TH 05-11-2002, 05:51 PM i told ya the si would scrap him ... lol... i know it will, i know it will.... honda troll 05-16-2002, 04:40 AM There's more to getting your car to handle like an S2000, other than just 50/50 weight distribution. The S2000's engine is set just behind the front axle, and actually gets 25/25/25/25 weight distrubution.... even on all wheels. Then there is the stiff as hell X-bone frame, stiff suspension, sticky Potenza S02's, etc. There is a lot more to the handling of the car than just the weight distribution. But when a Toyota DRIVER posts a kill, even though it's in a Honda car, you suddenly bag on him. So tell me carrrnuttt, did I lose just because I'm a Toyota driver? Even though an LS struggles to run low 16's stock, and Si's have commonly gotten 15.7's on all stock parts, it's possible I lost? Is it? Maybe it's because I drive a Corolla, huh? Maybe because I drive a Toyota I'm bound to ALWAYS lose regardless of who I race. The hmmm comment at first may seem perfectly normal, but when you take into account what you have done with s2 so far, and the fact that you openly admit that you are biased, I think that the admin should rethink the moderator ranking that they have awarded to you. Okay and you're going to tell me, with all complete honesty, that if I went into someone else's kill and said, "No you didn't." Or... "Hmmmmm..." That I won't get flamed for it? I'm pretty sure I would. Oh and if someone says they beat me, when they didn't... I come in and give reason to it, or I wouldn't care at all. I've raced a lot... About 10 of the people that I have raced have said I didn't beat them or the race didn't take place at all. If I got angry at every person that said I didn't beat them I would have a lot of issues to deal with AS a racer. That's the honest to God truth... Racing is some kind of democracy, where you have to pick your fights. This guy got major po'ed and looking at what car it is in his profile I know it IS him, and this is the way he get's. He has no shame whatsoever to admit defeat. I beat him 8 times to one loss in his Civic EX when he had cold air intake, header and exhaust, when I was stock on just exhaust. So driving skills aren't even a conversational subject. I was always taught and I learned for myself, that when a person gets really angry about an accusation or rumor... It's usually true. Melt 06-13-2002, 04:26 PM oops, sorry for the dual posts, i got the v-bulletin message and tried to post again and when I got here it was here twice. Damn this thread has gotten long, 4 pages and counting. carrrnuttt 06-14-2002, 07:58 PM Originally posted by Melt I dont think you have the makings of a good moderator. Originally posted by Melt The hmmm comment at first may seem perfectly normal, but when you take into account what you have done with s2 so far, and the fact that you openly admit that you are biased, I think that the admin should rethink the moderator ranking that they have awarded to you. Also, I do believe that some of your "biasedness" toward s2 has something to do with the fact that he is a toyota driver. It isnt very often that someone with a Corolla comes to a street racing forum, and i think that you have a problem with that. To explain the first "hmmmm", it meant that I did not know who to believe, and I wasn't going to make that decision based on what I've read in this thread. S2 also has quoted a 2000 Mustang GT convertible as running a 15.6 in the quarter when the same car is quoted regularly in magazines as running 14's easy. That shows me he is quick to say something without research (or knowledge) as long as he feels like it supports his argument. I have no problem with you having a problem with me. You can e-mail admin if you want about me. Also, what have I done with S2 so far? Tell me. I'll see about correcting my errant ways. You are quite disillusioned as to what the Moderator position carries. Think of it as law enforcement for the board. You've seen cop shows right? When you catch somebody being stupid, will you not keep an eye on that individual everytime you drive by him or his house? I'm not in anyway, comparing S2 to a common criminal(I know you'll find way of twisting that, like you did "hmmmm"), but the situation is similar....what do you want me to do? Lie? Last but NOT in anyways least: How many times am I going to repeat tha fact that I have owned as many Toyotas (3) as much as I have Hondas? Among my "Toys" was a 1996 Corolla. If you count the Toyotas my dad has owned (a different one every 2 years since 1980, counting the Lexus cars), I have actually driven more Toyotas than I'll ever drive Hondas. Not to mention my personal first ever car was a Toyota. That wagon is broke, get off it. banditkiller 07-23-2002, 08:43 PM as far as i can see the only reason you should lose the the integra is if you cant drive. period im new around here but this seems like a cool place. either way my 92 integra is runnig 13.8 in the quarter and its all engine.! 94svt5.0 07-23-2002, 09:34 PM I finaly decided to wade into all 4 pages and see what this thread is about. You need to grow up a bit. Melt 07-24-2002, 09:27 PM Yeah, that comment is whack, I dont think anyone would continue to post here if they werent interested in cars or the people here. I think carrrnuttt should spend his time elsewhere:finger: :finger: :finger: S2Corolla 07-29-2002, 08:15 PM Wow, you spent all that time typing such a contradictive waste of forum space? I'm shocked. First you tell me that I don't like anyone's car's here. Why don't you go check the 92+ Civic Forum, dig deep coz I do remember complimenting someone's ride, it was some guy with gun metal Motegi MR7's and a white Civic. I compliment nice rides when I see them. But when people talk trash about my ride I take offense. And how could you tell me that I protect V8 power? I like Cobra's and Z06's, so what? I do remember being the one who defended the Civic Si on the supercharged Cobra vs. the turbo Si. Where's you arguement to that? Oh and I do hope the administrators of the AutomotiveForums see this thread and read what you say because last time I checked, a moderator isn't supposed to be biased against sh!t, he/she is supposed to "moderate", keep the peace, not be biased towards anything. People that are biased are the one's you're supposed to stop from talking shit. Sounds like you're getting a little too happy with your power. carrrnuttt 08-05-2002, 07:54 PM Originally posted by Melt Yeah, that comment is whack, I dont think anyone would continue to post here if they werent interested in cars or the people here. Let me repeat:"I dont think anyone would continue to post here if they werent interested in cars or the people here"...I have been doing this since 2000, and there is such a thing as "being interested" as in "being interested in defending your chosen make" and "being interested in bashing 'dem dur Hondays". I've seen 'em all. The reason I was being assinine in my last post is because I've seen it all, and I am making sure of everybody's intentions in here. S2, don't even...we already had a LONG discussion about this when you first joined, and you conceded to being maybe a bit wrong, and you even backed me a bit along the way. I wasn't even a Mod then. Now that you sense a group forming behind you, you get brave? Jeesh. 94svt5.0 08-05-2002, 08:01 PM hmmmm.... were do you request that a moderator be removed? carrrnuttt 08-05-2002, 08:55 PM Originally posted by 94svt5.0 hmmmm.... were do you request that a moderator be removed? igor@af.com Enjoy. 94svt5.0 08-05-2002, 09:21 PM thank you. The ironic thing about you svt is that you probably wouldn't care about my comments and probably just retort back if I weren't a moderator. You think I take my stance because I am a moderator(meaning because I can...I have the power...however you may). As a matter of fact, my stance on every issue is given despite my being a moderator. My stance on everything has not changed ever since before my moderatorship. It was my remarks towards S2 and his immaturity(at least in how he presented himself) when he first joined that prompted admin to ask me to be a moderator. You get threatened when you are opposed by someone with a little bit of authority...and instead of presenting your case and being man, you just want them out of your way...at least this is how I see it. That is the only way I can see things...unless somebody explains it to me better. But then again, just like S2, you feel the mob behind you, so you really don't care. I don't know where you're from, but last I heard, in America, and most of countries represented here in AF, freedom of speech and thought aren't crimes. The only time being biased is not acceptable, is when that bias is used in a decision. As far as I know, I have NEVER used my bias towards you or anybody else in deciding anything like deleting or removing posts, or banning anybody...except when they're out here to make pointless, thoughtless remarks that don't really do anything but inflame people (that Taco guy comes to mind). Well...(at the risk of sounding like the people I'm moderating)...if you are so enlightened, why don't you apply to be a mod and show us intellectually encumbered types how it's done. But then again, from the sound of your post above, you sound pretty disillusioned about what authority is all about. Have you ever been in a position of authority? DeViL 08-07-2002, 11:31 PM Oh, and shift lead at McDonalds doesn't count...(inflammatory, but satisfying). The moderators I can't stand are the ones that make a smartass comment like that, and then ban you from the forum for saying something nasty back. I've probably been banned from 3 or 4 forums and a couple chat rooms because of that(yeah the world loves me). Obviously you're not one of those mods carnut, I don't see anyone banned yet. You can take my reticence and interpret it anyway you want, because I JUST DON'T CARE. What I DO care about is this forum, since I was asked by admin to care about it. I was trying to explain myself because you two instigators might make it that much harder to moderate around here in the future. Now, SVT seems to be understanding where I am going with my last post...Melt, let me ask you...what the FUCK do you want from me? This is why I do not post races too much anymore, I'd rather stay in the background and concentrate on keeping an eye on the posts and the post-ers. If you want me gone, talking to me doesn't help...contact admin. If you want an apology for something...hold your breath. If you want to make a point, why instigate? Do you really need my remarks to prod you on? You obviously made up your mind about me, why waste bandwidth? Make your point and move on. I understand it was you and somebody else who called me childish...I remember an old quote about a teapot and a kettle... S2CorollaR 08-10-2002, 10:06 PM Well I had to get a new screen name and start back fresh because the people at AF don't really know what they're doing and are YET to give me a new password... Which I've been waiting for for about 5 days now. carrrrnut... being biased is being biased regardless of whether you were a moderator before or not. I didn't get the pm someone sent me because of AF's lousy profile system. You don't get to pick your own password which is really lame. You're a moderator, and I am a moderator at a Corolla site... Even though I'm the proud owner of a Celica GTS now, I still follow the Corolla Community closely. When people start arguing I don't  at their comments or take sides because of "previous incidents". yeah we argued before and the administrators liked how you handled the situation as a regular user, but they way you are supposed to handle the situation as a MODERATOR is different. Yeah, maybe you don't post race stories but you still come in and throw low blows at people when shit hits the fan. Turn the fan off, carrrnut, don't throw more shit at it. And honestly, letting this dispute carry further, which has drifted very far from the original topic, is a mistake that you are making AS a moderator. Melt 08-11-2002, 12:10 AM So S2 lemme get this straight You have Celica GTS 2001 Integra GS-R Do you still have the corolla? Also carrrnuttt, I dont want anything, I dont care if you are a moderator or not because you DONT moderate, as far as I am concerned you are a regular member. If you dont care about what we think, leave, why post in this thread anymore? carrrnuttt 08-11-2002, 07:08 AM I will be replying to these particular comments I quoted with quotes of my own from my last post...apparently, reading, or maybe understanding, is not a strong suit to some people...
