Ford recalling 3.8 million vehiclesMarkHutch 09-07-2005, 04:31 PM In one of the largest recalls in automaker history, Ford Motor Co. said Wednesday it is recalling approximately 3.8 million pickup trucks and SUVs for a cruise control switch that has caused engine fires, even with the vehicle parked and the engine off. The recall includes 1994-2002 model-years of F-150 pickup truck, Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator and Ford Broncos. Full Story (http://www.cnn.com/2005/AUTOS/09/07/ford_recall/index.html) davsen8 09-08-2005, 08:56 AM they say that for now they are just "deactivating the speed control" until they get enough replacement harness with fuses,,,, Q: are they deactivating it by just pulling the plug off the brake unit? Or is it something more magical that they are doing and I have to drag my rig into the shop now to get it deactivated... I'd sooner wait till I have to go in for service and they have the parts on hand??? ~Davsen MarkHutch 09-09-2005, 02:46 AM Dave, I believe I heard that they are just unpluging it somewhere under the hood. However, I might have misunderstood the news story. Might want to call your local dealer. peppermrj 09-09-2005, 07:11 AM The way I understood it is they will just unplug it as it is hot all the time. davsen8 09-09-2005, 10:55 AM thanks... Looking at the diagram here http://www.fordf150.net/ford_news/ford-f150-bronco-cruise-control-recall.php I'd say I just gotta pop off the connector at the end of the reservoir labeled "switch".. sice that seems to be to only part that is anywhere near the brake fluid. ~dave peppermrj 09-09-2005, 02:09 PM Thanxs for the link. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
