i need some advice on what to do with my 91 passat cutchemist42 05-09-2002, 04:49 PM
I have a 91 passat and I was wondering are there any good body kits for it, or just exterior stuff, and what engine stuff? Dragon12880 11-27-2002, 08:44 PM sorry dude, but passats are the biggest pieces of $h*t VW ever built, and I doubt you'll get very far with it. I know it's your car, and that you're probably as attached to it as I am to my jetta (,so sorry for knocking it), but every passat I've ever seen or worked on has been a total piece - please just quit while you're ahead. Deakins 11-28-2002, 06:41 AM Don't listen to him. I know Zender, Kamei, Abt, Rieger, Seidl, BBS and Erebu make/made complete kits for the B3 Passat. Dragon12880 11-28-2002, 08:24 PM This may be true, but like I said, every Passat ***I*** have seen has been an absolute piece of crap. I've even seen one that had developed a valve-tick before its third oil change! I can't even recall having ever heard a VW salesperson saying anything positive about Passats. BUT... I will admit that they do have one of the cleanest, smoothest bodies of any VW, so if you're just going for looks, you've probably picked the right car. Sorry if I knocked it a little too hard. Nothing specifically aimmed at you or your car. ((Better Deak?)) BTW Corrados are HOT! Got one? I'd love to see some pics. Looking for one locally right now. The only ones I can find are ten states away in every direction! :monkeypis Mustangs Deakins 11-29-2002, 06:16 AM Ok, guess I have had better luck then you :D My dad is currently driving his his second Passat, and we have had no problems with it. The Passat has been a class leader over here for the last 8 years. And yes, I have a Corrado, you can find the pictures here (http://camo.flage.net/vag/view_album.php?set_albumName=albuq44) La Temperanza 12-01-2002, 12:11 AM the passat turned into a decent car after '98, also when it started looking good. the W8 is still a waste of money though. G60 Kid 12-27-2002, 05:15 PM I see nothing wrong with Passats. Tuned right they can make one hell of a sleeper. There are plenty of kits out there for them too. Im thinkin 16v Turbo Passat.. Hmmm... Now I see where your coming from. :D Deakins 12-28-2002, 07:24 AM Thanks :) GreatOne01 12-28-2002, 12:54 PM How much you put into that? Deakins 12-28-2002, 01:19 PM $5100 for a sound-system that I bought of a friend. The PO did all the modifications, I'm just saving up money for a new cylinder head. Again. D[X]P 02-06-2003, 07:11 PM nice car man can u get corrados in the us?i havent seen any. how much do titnted windows cost? how much money did u sink into the car and how much did u buy it for? flylwsi 02-06-2003, 07:41 PM whoa there... slow down... corrados were here for a few years actually... if you looked into the other forum about corrados, you'd see that. they came with the g60 and the vr6 motors. not bad. why don't you ask locally, like local shops, what things like tinting windows costs? it's different per area. why are you so interested in what everyone has invested in their car? it's not a great picture of what the car looks like. D[X]P 02-06-2003, 09:32 PM i just want to get an idea of how much tuning costs cuz wen im older i do want to tune my car but not spend more than 15k flylwsi 02-07-2003, 12:13 AM understandable completely, however, you don't know if he modded it himself... or if he had a shop do it... so, he could spend 5k and get what may cost 10k if you had a shop do it, know what i mean? i'm not trying to put you down, but things are much cheaper if you do it yourself.... that saves money, which means more mods in the long run, know what i mean? D[X]P 02-07-2003, 05:00 PM yea so ure saying that shops charge a lot for labor? flylwsi 02-08-2003, 12:57 PM i didn't say that at all. shops charge whatever their hourly price is. you need to find that out before you get something done. you also need to determine how adept you are with tools, and if it's worth saving the installation cost to do it yourself. D[X]P 02-08-2003, 01:00 PM ok i see but anyways how much r tinted ewindows in the area where u live? just give me an example. 100 bucks 500 bucks? flylwsi 02-08-2003, 01:09 PM depending on where you go, different shops charge different prices. i know a guy that will do it on the side for about 100 bucks. if you go to a shop, you could pay 200-300, depending on the number of windows, difficulty, type of tint... all that good stuff... there's never a set rate... D[X]P 02-08-2003, 01:10 PM what exactly do they do when they tint your wondows? do they put in new windows or wat? RACER D12 02-08-2003, 01:34 PM if you wanted REAL tinted windows they would put in new ones but most people just get their windows covered with a type of plastic its way cheaper. Just have to make sure the person knows what their doing, i have seen some really crapy jobs. D[X]P 02-08-2003, 01:38 PM ok i see thanks:flash: krziekracker 04-29-2004, 01:13 PM Passats suck dude. I have a 94 passat vr6 and there is practically nothing body wise for the earlier passats. Dump the Passat and go with a gti or corrado. The passat is a tad over 4000 lbs. its not worth hookin up its too heavy. Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
