Just thought i would pass on some good news about the windstar for a change. I have been having a problem, where the air is only coming from the defrost. Vacuum leak you say....well your right. The red hose coming from the manifold had a small crack in right at the connection point, where it attaches to the check valve. I decided during the troubleshooting process to pull off the check to see if it was good, and sure enough the vacuum line broke off. Perfect there the problem lie, so i just took and trimed the hose, and now it works perfect. For once a smart design, enough hose to still reach, even after it broke off. So in closing, i got the initial information from this forum to look at the check valve, you guys all rock, and you know what they say knowledge is power, and thank god for the power here, cause i would still be stuck with my nice cold air blowing on the windshield.
Cheers, and good luck with all of our other windstar woes

I have no heat coming out my defrost and I do have heat coming out my rear vents.

I just got a call from the Ford dealership saying that something called a blend door motor has to be replaced to the tune of $800 bucks!!!!

According to your post, if I am reading it correctly, your same exact problem was fixed by way of a vacuum hose.

Am I reading this correctly.

Please help, winter is coming quickly. Mike

Hey Mike,
As long as your model uses vacuum for changing selections. If so, with the vehicle running, unplug one of the vacuum hoses under the dash to the doors, anyone will do. If there is no vacuum at all, check under the hood, at the AC check valve. Should be located on the passenger side mounted to the underneath of the wiper shroud. Only about 2 inches long. check for vacuum there. Hopefully you will find the problem. If not the last check is at the backside of the intake manifold (Well on my model it was) Unplug there and check for vacuum. My problem was the red vaccum line from the manifold had a little crack right at the connection point to the check valve. ANyway good luck, anymore questions let me know. Good Luck

Jeremy
