oil sending unit cause overheat? uxguy 09-06-2005, 04:14 PM
our 96 blazer - Wife called said it overheated, she stated smoke from under the hood, and smell of coolant. All levels check out, and only thing unusual she noticed was the oil pressure gauge bouncing around on idle. Going from low to high and dancing erratically while sitting still. rlith 09-06-2005, 05:34 PM our 96 blazer - Wife called said it overheated, she stated smoke from under the hood, and smell of coolant. The sender wouldn't cause an overheat of your coolant. Either you blew something in the cooling system, or something cracked on the rad and/or heater core. Better check your intake gasket, might be dumping some coolant in the oil. When my intake went it blew to the outside and inside at the same time. Have the system presure tested.
