The GT-R is a coupe. As a fan of a car with the RB powerplant, no doubt you realize its power.

You're going to have trouble convincing anyone that the GT-R's not a "true" sportscar because it doesn't look like one.

So what if it doesn't look like a sports car to some. I love it and that's all that matters! Nah, really though, I have a friend who works for HKS down in Southern Cali and he gets to drive whatever cars they are working on in the garage. Well one day he was at work pretty late and he said he heard a V12 outside, sure enough there was a lambo out there. He ran out to the garage and found an R34 real quick, went out and kicked the shit out of the guy. The lambo pulled my friend over and the guy asked, "What kind of Honda is that?". See that's the thing, you can make these people that do have sporty looking cars eat your exhaust fumes from a sport coupe and laugh allllllll day long while you're doing it! First off, there are two models, the sedan and the coupe. So get the facts straight.

Second, obviously you don't know much about skylines to be running your mouth off. Skyline are nothing to sneeze at and can provide the competition to the best of them.

Thirdly, if you don't know already, there is a special model for all you doubters called the Nismo 400R. Bring on whatever you like!

A sports car is a car that is sporty. You can find sporty cars in each catagory. From a mini, hatchback, coupe/GT (like the GT-R), saloon etc. Read Peter Wheeler's column, "Left Field," in evo #032(pg. 53). for a very interesting veiwpoint on what a sports car should be. I don't completely agree with him, times change, so do cars, but he makes a very good point. "Sports cars" should be very light, 1 ton and under, and really, shouldn't have a top unless the car is trying to be more than just sporty.

With that, I just have to say that.... Nissan never intended the Skyline GT-R to be a sports car more than a coupe. The Honda S2000, NSX, Toyota Supra, and Mazda RX-7 qualify as sports cars better than the GT-R. But the GT-R is a little more of a supercar than any of those. The preformance it's relatively small 2.6 i6 GT car makes rivils the preformance made by a 3.2 V6 mid-engined NSX. The point I'm trying to bring out is that Nissan didn't intend it to be a "sports car" that's neck in neck with a Ferrari F355 in preformance like Honda's F1 enginers did. (Or any for that matter, I'm just using Honda as an example) If it gives you the thrill of a sports car (Boxster S, Elise, NSX etc. by most standards) and also gives you high tech gizmos, awd, and is even more practical than who cares? You see what I mean? I just raced a Porsche in my R33 GT-R and the guy asked me if it was a "Bimmer or something..." not only did I drive away the winner of the race, I drove away happy. Only enthusiasts and "ricers" (god I hope they see the light...) notice it a Nissan Skyline. Most cops don't even know what the hell I'm driving and why I'm on the right side of the car. :p It rocks!!

911 Carrara. :D Took the guy 3rd then downshifted to 2nd and smoked his ass. I was reving at like 7000 frickin RPM. He had a few tricks up his sleave especially when things got twisty but I had too much thrust for him and my exit speeds were above 90mph. If it was a Turbo I might have lost but I doubt it. BTW, what are you doing for 600bhp?? Are your suspension, brakes, and tires up for it???

I am putting in HKS 2540s/264 (in)272(ex) cam kit/87mm forged pistons kit/sport timing belt/high pressure oil pump etc. The head will be polished and ported up to TOP Secret's 2nd stage menu.
Suspension is already HKS Hiper Damper with Eibach springs. Brake will be AP Racing's 6 pot calipers with 14" discs. Tires are Dunlop SP 9000 275/35/18. Not as grippy as the Bridgie SO2s on the track but more easily obtainable here and ried really smoothly and more quiet. I'd also installed an ARC sports radiator which is really good (the oil temp used to be 110C on the track, now it is 100C because of lower engine temp).
600 at the engine is conservative at 1.4 bar. Hope to have a scramble mode for up to 620 at 1.5 bar.

It beats Diablos, Supras, RX-7s, F1s [McLaren F1, yes, that car], NSXs, and others on the track. Why? Maybe because your friends' modified cars can beat a stock GT-R? Well, of course they could do that. But did you know that there are GT-R's that run 1/4 mile in low 8's? And did you know that there are GT-R's with over 1300hp?
Also, did you know that a bone stock Skyline GT-R currently holds the world record on the n-ring [if you know what that is ;)] at 7'52?

So, in conclusion of my short little post,
- Learn how to spell, then people might actually take what you say seriously.

HKS R33 1/4 at 7.57 seconds...
i dun c no supras or ne thing doin that type of shit...
for example the Gambella Biturbo GTR900 (porsche) with 441KW and 650 N of torque and weighs 1450 kg did Nurburging in 7.44

now we take the R34 .206 KW 392 Ns of torque and weighs 1580 did it in 7'52'

the porsche wighs less has double the horse power and alot more torque and only beats it by 8 seconds..

bring the gtr up to those standards and it will drill it

Also for cooling, pick up a Greddy w/remote filter oil cooler kit (about 600 bucks US) and it will drop your temp another 5-10 degrees in hard running. Plus it places the filter directly abreast the right tower (behind the fuse box) instead of having to reach down under the intake Plenum and change the damn thing!

There is always one, and the fact is they will never come close to a GTR let alone a Tommykaira ZZII, that is one expensive car, you could buy a ferrari for the price of it, the GTR is a great car for the money it is well suited for all it's for, "A ROAD CAR" the ZZII would be a death trap and if you think you could handle it get in something small with that much power, like a TVR for example. They become like a spinning top.. :D

The R32 GTR is an amazing car for the price, especially in New Zealand. Even my 2L GTR Try hard is quite amazing for 1/4 the price.

On a serious note, I am pretty sure there will be no point in tuning the ZZII to 1000hp because it doesnt need it, 550hp for such a light car is WAY MORE THAN ENOUGH. Additionally, the car will not be able to sustain the pressure and power and torgue of the engine that is pumping 1000hp. [but GT-R on the other side can, because it's your daily crap, like Toyota Echo, so you wouldn't want it ;)]
