It was odd...one day after work I stopped at a gas station, parked and turned the car off. When I came out I went to start my car and the battery was dead, but I popped the hood and moved it around and it starts working again. So I start her up and throw it in reverse and it starts rolling out but when i gave it gas...nothing...put it in drive to park in my spot again...nothing. There was no sign of wear or slippage in the transmission. Everyone I talk to says that its very strange how it happed being that I was parked and transmissions dont just drop instantly. I have heard that the transmission in my car is a rather lightweight. Please help me!

Your transmission has probably failed you based on your description. It is unfortunate that it decided to go at that particular time. I had one of the same model transmissions, that worked perfectly one evening and the next morning after being shut off overnight would not shift either. Ended up replacing the transmission. Fortunately, these transmissions are readily available at most wrecking yards at a very reasonable price.
