Check Engine light but no signes of problems

the check engine light is on in my 01 ford winstar i bring it to advanced auto and they put in on the tester and it says that bay 1 is to lean now im no car expert but when they say to lean what does that mean

Did you get the code that the reader found? It sounds like you may have a vacuum leak. Possibly a vacuum hose off or broken. bad intake gasket. Do a visual look under the hood for loose or broken vacuum hoses. Did you have other work done on your van reciently?

Trouble codes really just point you to where the probem is. They don't necessary mean that a component is bad. There may be some thing else causing a lean condition.

Too lean is that there isn't enough fuel getting to the cylinders as appose to amount of air.

By far the most common cause of lean code(s) is a vaccum leak.

Change your O2 sensor. That should fix your problem.

I would not change the O2 sensor as a first step. The lean condition is being reported bythe O2 sensor but it may (and most likely is) simply reporting the conditions that exist in the engine and could very well be reporting them accurately.

As was mentioned in previous posts look for a vacuum leak. Often a Lean condition is a result of air getting into the intake that the MAF does not "know" about. Most likely a vacuum leak. Could also be a bad or dirty MAF. Other items could be insufficient fuel due to low pressue caused by a bad pump or even a dirty filter.

How many miles on the 01? I am not sure of the 01s but there is a TSB that addresses Lean conditions and it may include the O1's.

"Bank" 1 (not bay). Would you like to fix this yourself? Or would you rather just sound knowledgeable when you bring this problem to your fix-it guy? We can help either way.

My guess is . . .

Vaccum leak/ air leak between the air filter and the intake plenum.

Change your O2 sensor. That should fix your problem.
i did this already i change the one befor the cat. after and the one befor the muffler
