While driving the Windstar or even soon after starting it, I hear beeping, usually 4 beeps in sets of 3 or 4. I cannot for the life me figure out where this is coming from. Does anyone have any ideas? It is a '98 Windstar 3.8L. It doesn't happen everytime I am in it.
I might also mention that the light is always on that say I have a door ajar. All of the doors shut just fine and the light never goes out. Can I clean the sensors on the doors or jams to make it go off? If so what do they look like and where are they? LOL

Thankyou !

on most winstars they have a seat belt switch so when its beeping its most likly tellin you that you need to put on your seat belt...to check and make sure this is the problem when you here the beeping next time look at the dash for a red blinkin light it will be a fast blink so look quick

Do a search on the Windstar forum (this one) for "Door ajar". There is a really good post about this.

Yes there are little switches in the door latches that get sticky after a while and cause the switch to say that the door is open when it's not.

In my 95 I've found that the back door switches are the trouble ones.

I always wear my seat belt in any car. I know that isn't where it is coming from. It hasn't done it since I posted that, so who knows?
However, GREAT suggestions on the door ajar problem!

repair the door ajar problem 1st , then chances are your beeping will vanish also.

I think you are very right that the beeping noise will also quit. I have noticed that the interior lights don't shut off as they should either, and that is probably because it thinks the doors are still open.
I have used a pencil eraser on the contacts (not sure if that is what they are called), and I have yet to find one of the 2 cans of WD-40 I have somewhere in the garage or house, lol. As soon as I locate one of them I will spray all of the latch thingys in the doors as instructed on the door ajar thread.
I tell everyone about this site. You guys have helped me beyond belief.
