Alright, I may be stupid, but i've read the directions on how to program my remote and I have a few questions. The data link connector located under the dash has 2 rows. There are 8 holes on top and 8 holes on the bottom. Which 2 holes do I place the wire in to make a connection. Please help, i've been trying to figure this out for awhile.
Thanks to all!

Use a jumper wire to connect the data link connector terminal 8 (BLK/WHT) to terminal 4 (BLK). The numbers are on the ADL connector. You may need a magnifying glass to see them.

Can anyone help here? I have no idea on how to program this freakin remote and will take any suggestions on how to do it. The port has 8 holes on top and 8 on the bottom, but I dont see white/black and black holes. I see black holes and holes with silver metal in them. Any help is def. appreciated!

If your ADL connector looks like the one below, short 4 & 8 and follow the instructions on how to program.

For the OBDII style connector (16-pin D shaped), it has the following pinout:

01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08
09 10 11 12 13 14 15 16

\ X | X | X | 4 | 5 | X | X | 8 /
`\9 | X | X | X | X |14 | X |16/
``------------====-------------

Where:
X = Unused
4 = Chassis Ground (black)
5 = Signal Ground (black/white)
8 = Door Lock Programing (short to ground, 4 or 5) - (black/white)
9 = Unknown, Hot w/ Ignition (tan or pink or orange)
14 = Unknown, Constant Hot (blue or navy or purple)
16 = Battery+ Constant (red)

Hey, my ADL connector was totally different than the one described above. I did figure it out though! I was able to get the lock, unlock, and panic button to work. How might i get the trunk button to work - I tried the same thing and it didnt work.
Thanks

If you have a 97 Buick, you have the 16 pin D shape connector as OB11 compliant. If it did not pinout like the one above, it must be the J1850 as shown below. Did you open the trunk during the program phase?

J1850 VPW (Varible Pulse Width modulation)
-Pins 2, 4, 5, and 16 are used, but NOT 10.
-GM cars

\ X | 2 | X | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | X /
`\X | 10| X | X | X | 14| 15| 16/
``------------====--------------

Where:
X = Unused
2 = SAE J1850 Bus+
4 = Chassis Ground
5 = Signal Ground
6 = CAN High (SAE J2284)
7 = ISO 9141-2 K-line
10 = SAE J1850 Bus
14 = CAN Low (SAE J2284)
15 = ISO 9141-2 L-line
16 = Battery+

No, do I need to open the trunk during the programming phase?

How do I program the trunk?

Did the remote trunk work before you reprogrammed the key fob? If it did, it should work now. Check the fuse & relay located in the relay center under passenger side.
It should look like the one below;
