Aveo factory radio unlock code- DEALERS CAN'T HELP ME!

So, I am EXTREMELY frustrated with this situation. I recently bought an '04 Aveo with 14,000 miles on it from an independent dealer. The radio was locked when I bought it and the dealer cut $150 from the price because of this.

Anyway, I do not have the code on any of the documentation that I received with the car. I have taken it to every single dealer in Austin, Texas and every one has said that they can not help me, one went so far as to tell me I need to go have an aftermarket radio installed because there was nothing that they could do.

Now, I know that this is BS and that GM can lookup the factory unlock code based on the serial number and/or VIN. If all of these Chevy dealers are simply unable to help me because they are, frankly, complete morons, then do I have an alternative other than to simply install an aftermarket stereo?

I was in the same boat. I bought my 04 from a used lot but the radio was not locked. It did lock when I pulled the radio and found out I needed to modify the mounting bracket for the new radio. That is when the radio locked. I just kept trying different codes until it unlocked (took over an hour). I guess there is no limit on attepts like other theft-lock radios. My code was 2153. I started at 1111 and kept going until it popped on. My fingers were tired but I had a good laugh after it was done. Start with 1111 (or try mine 2153), wait a second and if it is not right, try another.

I didn't get a radio code later, until AFTER I found out mine. Look in your manual about the radio and the lock. It should be on page 3-43 (it is for me). Follow the instructions as follows:

To enter a NEW code, do the following:
1. RESET the radio by removing and replacing the "radio fuse". That should clear it so you can input a new one.

2. Follow the steps 1-4. Take note of your new code. It worked for me.

Hey guys/ladies,

I just wanted you to know that there is a very important fuse just for the radio reset. It provides just enough juice to allow the radio/cd from needing to be re-coded!!!!!

I believe it is at the top in the center. If you need to unfuse your radio/cd, just be sure to unplug the fuse on the right or left sides of the fuse bank...not the one in the top center!

Believe me, I bought mine new and I learned this by BIG mistake! In my case, the dealer was also in the 'what code' mode!

Hope this helps!

Is the fuse located in the dash by the drivers door?

Where is this radio code? I already removed both fuses in the panel by the drivers door and I had no luck with that.

Dealer told me that its only applicable if there is a light that flashes on the radio itself. I have the MP3/CD/AM/FM system, and the car never came with a card. Its supposed to have a stamped card for the radio.

Hi, I'd like to replace my stock radio w/ a stock mp3 player from ebay. Can anyone write directions for removing the radio and replacing the new one (mainly what fuses to pull or how to reset the lock code if there is one). fyi: I bought my aveo new and can't find anything in my owners manual about this. Perhaps the radio won't lock but I want to have a back up plan.

ARGH!!! HELP... who, what or HOW do you go about getting the code for the radio. I bought my car used, had no idea of a code. Battery died and now radio will not work. Dealership where I bought the car said they wanted 100 bucks to get the code. I have the radio/mp3/cd combo and I do not have the clock in it. Someone please just tell me if there is a cheeper way to find the code. Dealership said the radio had to be removed and hooked up to a machine to find the code. That is the reason for such cost. I felt that since I bought the car from them that it should have came with the code to begin with.... I was told the battery died and that was my fault so I have to pay for the code. I do not like chevy at the moment....
HELP!!!

I had the same problem. Use this site, but search under daewoo cars, thread titile "nonspecific" then "radio code list". One of these #'s worked for me! try it. I tried to link to the thread:

Great info on the codes for Aveo radio. I was able to reset the radio without the ridiculious wait for Chevy dealer. Thanks for the helpful info!

Welcome on your first post on AF.
Not sure about the Aveo raido but Impala and some GM raidos are now set up with the car vin no.and have to be set and programed with the GM tech scanner.

There is a customer service no in your owners manual that may be of help.
A good dealer should be able to help.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I joined this site ONLY to say thanks to the person who listed the codes for GM Chevy Aveo radio. I also was frustrated with the dealerships, who did not provide a code upon the sale (bought used) and wanted to charge me $99 to get the code for me, after my battery died. I tried the codes and one worked!!!!
2253, 3116, 3451, 2152, 4362, 4316
4316, 4513, 4362, 1156, 2145, 1156
6451, 6361, 5624, 5241, 3346, 1165
3241, 4524, 5436, 5813, 3265, 5624
2453, 3462, 3251, 5445, 8253, 1156
2346, 4853, 6645, 5253, 1325, 4136
3116, 3221, 2151, 5312, 2654, 4314
I think a radio thief could have gotten this code with less frustration than I had. :eek7: In my opinion it is just another way for the dealership to make money.
Thanks again whoever posted these!!!

Same here. Just wanted to thank the person who posted 3241. Imagine my confusion when the Jiffy Lube tech replaced my battery and my radio displayed "CODE". Grabbed my laptop and Googled search "chevy aveo radio code" and voila!, problem solved. Whew!

It has to be programed with the Tech 2 and GM started this in 2001.Luckily my father does not have to go to the dealer, has a Tech 2 he bought from the dealer.
