I don't expect any replies on this one. The purpose of this post is for those of you with a timing set that makes horrible noise, like mine did when I bought the car.

I meant to post this right when we finished the timing set instal. If you buy a timing set from a local parts house other than Nissan, the idler sprocket is not going to work(I made them open and show me sprocket on all feasible part numbers). Random local parts houses (Autozone, Advance ect..)will provide an idler sprocket in their timing set for your car that has no helical gear made to the front of it, which provides oscillation to the distributor.

To avoid this:

A. Buy it off the internet and trust that the supplier is providing the right parts or,

B. Spend about $250 more on complete Nissan timing set or,

C. Buy only the Nissan idler sprocket, and use the rest of the kit from your local parts house[mismatch kits]. I did this to save $170

So Buy the Idler Sprocket from Nissan and then the rest from say AutoZone?
