ok well im looking for a 240sx, or have been for awhile. and i have just found out that i will not be able to get the s13 because it has no airbags. mothers rule. i want a 240 so bad, and wasnt planning on getting a s14, but i guess i will have to. i have found a local guy trying to sell a 95 240 for 1500. he says there is quarter panel damage. but he says the car runs and drives great. sounds great, right? has there ever been problems with 240s that you have heard about, with suspension? i would love to buy the car but if the suspension is screwed because of the damage to the quarter panel. im not sure i want it. and if it is, how much will cost me to fix that? i really want a 240 and i need a car soon. i have a job and my old car is gone. i only have about 1700, im not looking for a spectacular s14. but im looking for a running s14 w/ some body damage. possible?

drive it and seee if the suspension got damaged. and u will be ok if u dont mind the cosmetic damage. look for any uneven tire wear that could be a sign of a suspension problem

and the air bag rule is stupid. tell her you will be drifting all the time and will need side impact airbags

My parents don't want me to get a car with airbags cause they are to expensive to replace and they are afraid that they will go off at some random time, lol, airbags are stupid.

S13s have automatic seat belts(minus convertibles). What more can safe parents ask for? BTW, that means a discount on insurance...

Bah your parents suck.My dad got me my s13 knowing that I was going to modify it.He even helped me in some decisions...like which motor to go with.Of course he suggested to stick with the good 'ol iron block :)
I've also been trying to get my mom to go for a ride in my 240 so she can see(feel) how all the time,sweat,blood,and money I've put into it turned out LOL

You should get a S14 then unwire the airbags and take out the Front and Rear Bumper... Take that Mom and Dad.

he's lying haha...j/k as far as i know they never came iwth airbags. just keep an eye out for s14's EVERYWHERE. like in yards and shti like that. even if it doesnt have a for sale sign doesnt mean its not for sale. thats how i got my 95 for 1k. so they are out there dont give up hope. and 1500 isnt bad at all for one. just check for the susp and frame damage like everyone said.

it is very easy to dsconnect air bags so they don't work. I simple cut here and there or removal of electrical components will render it useless. You could also buy an aftermarket steering wheel and get rid of the system compltely.

And then go to jail for doing something highly illegal.

What are you talking about? It is completely legal to remove SRS systems, I think it is illegal to modify it though, not sure on that one though.
And I actually saw s13 with airbag, it was driver only IIRC.

on s14's the air bag controller,i guess you could call it, is intbetween the back seats, underneath everything, inside the car.

Dude, it's HIGHLY illegal to remove airbags, if you do, you can see huge ass fines and sometimes jailtime, if a mechanic does it, he loses hes mechanics license forever and the shop is shut down. They don't joke around with this shit.

next time a cop pulls you over and asks you if you removed your air bag slap him in the face...

If you remove your airbag in the US then technically you wont be able to pass inspection. Most Mechanics wont take them out for you since thats a HUGE Liability.
