my new 240sx, got questions!therealrayman 08-31-2005, 10:54 AM Hey, i just got my 1990 240sx coupe yesterday and am happy to finally have a car once again. But of course all my cars come with some problems so here they are: 1) My speedometer wigs out every once in a while, especially when it gets real warm outside. My friend said he has seen more than one 240 with this problem? Is there a common fix for this? It doesn't just shut off, it just jumping all over the place like its goin into seizure. 2) My clutch pedal seems real loose but the clutch is fine, how can take up some of the slack in the pedal so that i can engage/disengage w/o all that pedal travel? 3) I wanted to install rear and front upper strut bars, but i have the coupe and unlike the h/b, my rear strut towers are concealed, so do i need to tear out all of the interior plastic walls in my trunk to install that support?? 4) is there a place where i can purchase new/nice shift knobs for my 240 that are made with that long neck?? I don't want a universal knob b/c i love the stock look. My knob has some sticky gunk all over it cuz someone tried to cover the knob with this weird leather stuff and i peeled it off, goo gone isn't really helpin the situation. 5) Driver's side door panel is coming off a little bit(ripped from the vinyl a lil bit), how can i repair this? I don't think its sewed.....replace the whole panel???????? 6) Are the ebay exhausts safe at all? Some say yes and some say no.....also what about pacesetter...they have great deals but some people diss, is that just because it isn't apexi? Thanks gurus. 240SXSlideStar 08-31-2005, 11:40 AM For the shift knob, get the Nismo leather one, looks a little like stock, but way cooler. 7M > V8 08-31-2005, 12:19 PM 2. My clutch it like that too, but i like it that way. 6. I dont know of a way it could be unsafe, as long as it fits your car. If its too large your car could lose back pressure. SHIFT_KA24DE 08-31-2005, 12:36 PM congrats... You can adjust the clutch with the pedal stopper. It's right behind the pedal. Loosen, adjust the height, then tighten (although it should have a very small amount of play to begin with) THe clevis pin should be able to rotate freely, if not loosen a tad. not sure about the coupe... the fastbacks have panels that you simply pop-off... just wait for someone with a coupe to answer that Q. shift knob... whatever you want just make sure it's 10mm thread. Find an interior door panel from a salvage yard. It's not expensive and you just simply remove the door handle and a few screws to pop it right off. pacesetter exhausts are crap. they may look nice initially but will soon rust and crack. The black finish will melt off too so don't expect much from it. Basically, you get what you pay for. driftking777 08-31-2005, 01:40 PM 6) Are the ebay exhausts safe at all? Thanks gurus. like Shift said...pacesetter is crap...you dont really get the exhaust note that most 240 owners go for (deep and throaty)...ebay exhaust are ok...as long as it is in the 2 1/4 to 2 1/2" range you should be fine... therealrayman 08-31-2005, 01:51 PM 6) Are the ebay exhausts safe at all? I would say as long as you dont do headers and test-pipe for now youll be fine. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
