Hi guys! How to take the head off

I believe that my car has a huge engine problem as I described earlier. It has 130K miles on it and it's not worth to have it towed to the dealer. I am trying to replace the intake manifold and header gaskets but now I am having problem to remove the cylinder head(s). I did remove the Intake manifold and its gasket looks very awfully bad, the sections near the water ports got damaged. In order to remove the cylinder head I have to remove all the bolts from the exhaust manifold first and I have done this but now I have to remove 8 more bolts for the cylinder head to come out. I am stuck right here and my q? are:

1> Are there 8 bolts I have to remove or more?
2> Two of the bolts are in between the Valve Springs and they seem not to have much space to get the socket in there.
