hello everyone . I am in desperate need of help to sort out my car . renault dealers havent a clue and charged me a fortune . heres the problem ....... renault laguna 1.9 DTI 1999 . about 3 weeks ago it would turn over but not start , at the same time the revs would hit 7000.
but it would always start on a bump start .took it to a garage . computer said fly wheel sensor problem . changed that . still didnt cure it . then about a week later it improved . if you pushed the throttle down about a third and then turn the key it would start , with the revs being normal . I then took it to renault dealership who put it on their computer and said nothing wrong , nothing showing up . 3 days ago its gone back to not starting , not even with foot on throttle . it sounds like it wants too start , turns really fast , but doesnt seem to be getting diesel . can someone please help me . I am a taxi driver and cant afford a new car and have to keep my engine running all night, its a nightmare . thankyou in advance . best wishes , john

Did you ever find the soloution to this problem? I'm having exactly the same problem with an S-reg Renault Laguna 1.9 dti. Sometimes it starts up no probs. Other times it turns over, the revs shoot up and bounce around 5,500 - 6,000 revs and it won't start. Please please pleaaaaase HELP!

Does the car start when you bump start it? If it does the problem could be the actual starter motor! It sends out interference during cranking, which is picked up by the TDC sensor! This in turn sends the wrong signal to the ECU which can't understand it, which results in non start!! Hope this helps!!
