Zachp911 08-28-2005, 11:54 PM No offense, but both cars sound like pieces of shit. I would look for something with alot less mileage so it will last you longer. What is the maximum amount of money you can spend? Try looking around on www.autotrader.com and see what you can find. desii 08-29-2005, 01:15 AM lol, yeah i sorta figured someone would say that. but there in my price range. and its a car taht can get me from point a to b my grand is less thatn 2 grand (paying myself) and yeah i did try autotrader.com there were like a FEW that i found like a 97 5spd mazda but it was already sold, they sell fast! PantsR4Ants 08-29-2005, 02:05 PM A little tip. Try to find a vehicle with under 100k miles on it. Believe it or not, an older vehicle might be better than a newer one with the same miles. Try hard to have someone with you who knows about cars when you go for a test drive. If you buy a piece you'll have to pay for it in the end. You can find a decent car for less than 2-3 grand. You'll have to do some hard looking probably. The ideal situation is an older car 10-15 years old with less than 100k miles with all the original parts and one that has been driven by an older lady or man. I bought a 1992 Chevy Lumina(good cars) for 1800 from a guy whose mom has passed away. The car was in great shape and I put about 15k miles on it, but I didn't keep the thing serviced, so I had to get rid of it. It would have been a good car though. I did have to do some repairs on it. Cars tend to start to fall apart around 100k and little stuff often needs to be replace, such as fuel filters, water pumps, timing belts, transmission fluid, and so on. The Honda might not be too bad, if you can talk the guy down to like $1k or somewhere close. But I wouldn't pay no $2k for it. Maybe call the guy up in a month or so and see if he's sold it. Offer him $1k and see what he says. If he says no it's his loss not yours. Another thing. I wouldn't be too desperate to get my first car just yet. I'm telling you, I have wasted so much money in my life on stuff I did not need. Take some time to learn about what you want. Do some research on cars and narrow down the field to the ones you know will best fit your lifestyle. Learn to be a discering buyer. It will save you a lot of trouble "down the road." If I where you I would try and save up anywhere from $4-7k before I made my first purchase. This may seem like a bit much, but you will learn how to handle your money a lot better, and believe me, in 5-10 years you will be glad you have learned such a skill. You probably have a long life a head of you. I wouldn't start blowing my chances too early. desii 08-29-2005, 03:34 PM wow, those are accuatly good tips, the thing is i sort of need a car now, only because i dont have rides to school or work. my school and work are pretty car from home. and everyone in my family is working aswell so yeah. imma call the accord guy today and see if it sold or not, and put down an offer after i test drive it! thanks desii 08-30-2005, 03:32 AM well what about mazdas? i found a few like 1993 Mazda 626 ES Mileage 170,084 Transmission Automatic $1,395 or like, 1989 Mazda 929 Mileage 90,000 Transmission Auto $700 1991 Mazda 626 LX $800 Mileage 11,000 ( i totaly dont know how that is possible) Transmission Auto 1993 Mazda Protege DX $1,000 Mileage 159,000 Transmission 5-Speed soo any of those cars sound good? imma car them tomrrow. there all under 200,000 miles so that a PLUS! let me know what you guys think. THANKS! life is viewtiful 09-04-2005, 10:17 PM If I were you, I'd keep away from the automatic Mazdas. I've heard waaaaaay too many horror stories about their auto trannys. In fact, I'm trying to sell my 626 for that exact reason. That protege sounds pretty good though. I think you should try to see if you can find one that's 95+...They start looking pretty nice from then on IMO. Anyways, good luck with your car hunt! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
