help naming a part on a 92 1.9jeopardy98 08-28-2005, 08:52 PM Hey all, I accidentally broke a sensor today while changing my starter and I can't figure out what it is called to save my life. It is located in the same place that the coolant temperatur sensor and the coolant gauge sensor are located. That bridge that has three sensors on it. The one I broke off is the one closest to the firewall. It has a green plug, but that probably changes. It sits in the antifreeze and I can't for the life of me figure out what it is. Anyone that knows what the name of this is, please reply. Thanks so much. chevyn0va1 08-28-2005, 09:16 PM Hey all, I accidentally broke a sensor today while changing my starter and I can't figure out what it is called to save my life. Thanks so much. water temp sensor gauge? better off taking pics of it or getting a part number off of it. jeopardy98 08-28-2005, 09:42 PM http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=503/372842sensor.jpg Okay, what the heck is going on? On my car there is a third sensor right there where that green arrow is. When I removed the sensor antifreeze came out. Does anyone else have a third sensor? I can't be the only one. Anyway the third sensor is the part I am looking for. I don't have the car right now so I can't take a pic, but when I can I will. Davescort97 08-29-2005, 05:58 PM As you are looking at them. The one on the left is the temperature sensor for the cooling fan. The one in the middle is the temperature sensor for the temp gauge. The one on the right is the temperature sensor for the Electronic Engine Control System. The EEC. jeopardy98 08-29-2005, 06:45 PM As you are looking at them. Maybe a part number? I have looked everywhere and I cannot find this part listed. Thanks again. Davescort97 08-29-2005, 07:29 PM Thank you very much. I'd think that Auto Zone, Advance, O'Reilly or Napa would have it. Lots of times NAPA carries things no one else has. robertdlouhy 08-29-2005, 08:45 PM i believe its called a heater hose manifold or tee. jeopardy98 08-29-2005, 08:58 PM I'd think that Auto Zone, Advance, O'Reilly or Napa would have it. Lots of times NAPA carries things no one else has. I checked all of those places and none of them carry a part by that name. It must be called something else. Davescort97 08-30-2005, 03:50 AM I checked all of those places and none of them carry a part by that name. It must be called something else. My manual says this is what it is called. I cross referenced it in the schematic and it is called the engine coolant temperature sensor (ECT) and it goes to the electronic engine control. Autozone has it. Have them look under Driveability and Emissions, then Electronic Engine Controls, then Coolant Temperature sensor. It is a Wells part no. SU201 and it costs $20.99. You could probably pull one at the boneyard for very few bucks if you wanted to go that route. equusrocks 08-30-2005, 03:47 PM Napa's computer lookup system will automatically list most of the sensors they can get, as they should be listed alphabetically under Sensors & Switches, and if you can get a part number off the old sensor then they can cross reference it. They can also get a pic if it's something they have to order or if they aren't sure of which part it really is. If I still worked there I'd cruise around the books and puters, but don't so I can't. Good luck. Maybe just ask them to look up a Coolant Temp sensor and see if they can pull up some pics? jeopardy98 08-30-2005, 03:49 PM My manual says this is what it is called. Can you tell me what your schematic says the one on the far left of my pic is because I just replaced that sensor with the part you just listed? I checked at the store and the connector on the part you listed does not fit the connector on my sensor. My sensor looks just like this http://www.partsamerica.com/product_images/img/BAR/BAR1580134.jpg but it has a round connector, not a square one. Again I really appreciate your help, I am just trying to figure this out. jeopardy98 09-01-2005, 12:07 AM bump for suggestions Escort_Service 09-02-2005, 01:47 PM If it comes to it go to the Ford dealer. If any thing they wll be able to tell you other possable names for the sensor. Keep in mind that if you just go to the parts counter and talk they wont charge you money! Sometimes they even stock parts cheeper then the auto parts stores, not very often but it has happened. butch100 09-03-2005, 09:40 AM I had to replace my "tee" as it got pretty corroded, I wound up going to the bone yard as only ford could get me a new one, I didn't even bother asking the price!.. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
